Prof. Rodriguez a hilarious guy and really passionate about HIST-110 . What I wasn't too fond about his teaching was him lecturing by talking most of the time and not too many slides- which makes it hard to take notes since his exams are extremely heavy, doesn't post much on iLearn either. Exams: 15 Multiple-C Q's, 15 Fill Ins, 1 Whole Essay.

His lectures are powerpoints that he doesn't post online, so definitely try to come to class as often as possible. DON'T miss a quiz based off of a book because he will have you write a summary paper for it instead. Didn't post our progress in the gradebook online as we went, but our grades were based off the in class test and quizzes.

I had heard about how good Prof. Rodriguez was. I was not disappointed! Great lectures. Dry sense of humor. You need to come to class if you want to do well. So surprises for tests, he gives you a study guide. 10 page paper at the end, you chose the topic. I've had him for two classes and both were great experiences.

Come to class AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN. He uses a lot of powerpoints but doesn't put them online. He'll totally go back to a slide so you get info off of it, though. Make sure that you have a buddy in class to get notes off of. Also gives study guides for midterm and final. STUDY THE STAR TERMS.

Professor Rodriguez was an awesome teacher, he's very knowledgeable about history and makes class interesting so you're very engaged. He talks fast though, so always make sure to be paying attention to his lectures. All his lectures are via powerpoint and he does not post them online, so another reason to make sure to attend class! Several quizzes.

Took Rodriguez in Fall 2014. Let me just say I absolutely despise history but I loved his lectures. You MUST GO TO CLASS and take notes otherwise you probably wont pass. His tests come directly from the lectures. The tests are a few multiple choice and an essay. He does give you the essay questions in advance so take him!

I love his class! He is very enthusiastic and passionate in his lectures. He's the smartest guy! You will need to take notes and go to every class. If you do that, his quizzes and tests will be easy. I would definitely take him again.

He's a great lecturer and you will learn a lot from this class. Not an easy A but come to class, take good notes (literally write down everything he says), and participate and you should do fine! there were 3 exams (30 questions and 1 essay question) and 4 quizzes based on readings. Very engaging class, would recommend and take again!

I really enjoyed taking this class. It was challenging for me because I haven't taken many history classes before, but I overall really liked this class and would definitely recommend it to others. Only homework is to read and an essay at the end of the course. Take this professor!

Good instructor but I'm not sure I see what all the fuss is about. The class is like a really good high school class and that's cool but not exactly that hard to find. I'd take another class with him but I'd hope for something more challenging.

Awesome class, super interesting. The great research paper seems pretty intimidating (or at least it did to me) but ended up not being so bad. It's worth it to get an idea early and talk it over with him, even if you don't plan on writing your paper until the weekend before it's due.

Pr Rodriguez made me fall in love with Medieval History all over again. Thanks to his sense of humor, you never get bored, not even during a 3h class. I learned a lot without even noticing it. He is very clear and patient and will explain something over and over again until everyone gets it. Thanks for this wonderful semester!

Rodriguez is a great teacher. Although history can be boring to listen to, he makes it fun and often jokes around to entertain the class. Attendance is not mandatory but I suggest going to class, because his lectures are very detailed. As long as you do, and read the book, you'll pass this class. I would recommend this professor to anyone.

I'm sad that I waited till my senior year to take this professor. As a history major this is the bread and butter. He is one of the most entertaining professors I've had. His lectures are dense and chalked full of great info and he makes it so accessible. Even if you aren't a history major try to take him for your GE

If you are interested in the material, he makes it nearly impossible for you not to do well by delivering fascinating lectures and making his expectations extremely clear in the syllabus, study guides, and website resources. I can't recommend him enough! We are so lucky to have him at SF State.

Great professor! He made this class very interesting. You can tell how passionate about the subject he is. Most of the readings were mandatory for class discussions. He is very helpful with term papers also. If you want to get a good grade in his class go every time--all the lecture material are on tests.

AMAZING. Literally the only professor that could catch my attention about history. I may not have made it out of the class with the perfect grade but the fact that he stood by me and helped me as much as he could along the way makes him an amazing professor. He knows his stuff and if you ever need help in the class, he's very approachable.
