took him for pre-cal online. In my honest opinion, if you do not already have a strong math/trig background you will have a hard time. I suggest messaging your entire class and getting together to help each other out. although i did not do this i kept in touch with a few of my classmates and it helped me when i was stumped. Great lectures.

Quizzes can be a nightmare, but you get a week to work on each one. Tests are fair. Lectures are AMAZING. The insights he offers on mathematics is unmatched by any other professor I've had. The gems you get (if you are listening and care) will strengthen your math knowledge exponentially.

Javier is a great teacher, however, I took an online course thinking it would be the easiest class of my semester courses, I was wrong. There are quizzes every Sunday, and assignments throughout the week that 150+ questions per assignment. There is a LOT of work in this class, and unless you go in to talk to him at least twice a week, good luck.

Marquez cares more about teaching real math concepts than any other professor I've had before. he challenges you to not care about your grade so that you can think outside the box and truly learn. because of this, his class is structured around having plenty of opportunities to land a passing grade. i can't wait to take his upper division classes.

He is a very good and generous professor. He want to give his all for teaching. His way of teaching math is unique and non-traditional. He dose not use the same old methods of teaching math. He use an online website for quizzes and homework that he made it himself. Its free and anyone can get into his website and learn for free. I will do it again

Javier is an awesome guy, but his Trig class was not the best. I felt repeatedly like he had no idea how to explain the concepts to people other than math majors. I and my peers were completely lost at times. There was no book, only Javier's lectures, so if you didn't get it, you were out of luck, because his explanations were very particular.

Hardest Calculus teacher but records every lecture and puts videos online. quizzes are very hard but honestly I think Calculus 3 is going to be easy now. Online books are lifetime membership. calculus 1 was like a warm bath with candles and a glass of wine. Calc II was like the Thai mall massage where you wake up the next day covered in bruises.

3rd class w/Marquez. The best part is the lectures are online for $25 vs buying an expensive text. Pause and rewind are IMMENSELY helpful. Best if you really want to understand "like a human" vs just memorize "like a bug." I used to get F's in math, now I get A's. Be ready to put in work doing ALL the homework. It's math at it's finest.

Very good professor. His unconcentional way of teaching actually works if you want to learn the "why" of math instead of just memorizing formulas. I took the only class which does not use a text book, I think next time would do better in his class with a text book. Only negative comment is that he does not answer his emails :(

Took his online Trig class. Seemed as though it should be an easy class, but his teaching methods are unconventional. This made it very difficult to get help from other sources. His homework and tests have a lot of errors on them, which quickly becomes frustrating. Even though I received a B in the class I feel like I didn't really learn much.

He was extremely helpful with his own site. Lectures and homework were online. If I had questions about problems he (or other students) would help out on the message board he has set up that you have to create another user/pass for to view. (thanks evan!)

I go home after every class and try to explain the lectures to my boyfriend- they are that interesting!! He's brilliant- this can make the class challenging. Marquez is hilarious, cheerful, and good enough to make me stay awake during an evening class after working all day...

Unless you are an AP high school student or this is your second or naturaly gifted at math, do not take Javier as a teacher. He does not relate well to lower division math students. He is smart, but does not transfer the information well to others. Tutors at Mesa will not be able to help you with his trignometric methods.
