Excellent professor. Tough, but very fair. He made me laugh with his "old man" humor. His enthusiasm for Geology shows through in every class. He has real-world knowledge of Geology as he worked for an oil company before becoming a professor. His lectures were excellent. I am taking all his classes he's so good.

Comment:

Grover's passion for geology is contagious and his lectures are interesting (and mostly irrelevant). His tests are awful. Be prepared to attend every class, do all of the homework, read the textbook, review his powerpoints (lectures), and still be surprised by what's on the test. Tests are 75% of the grade.

Created an account just to comment on the quality of this teacher. Through and through a great teacher. Cares for students and gives everything needed to succeed! Switched major to geology because of teacher. Don't slack or it will show, plenty of extra credit opportunities. Passionate teacher create brilliant minds!

Grover understands that being a student is HARD. He gives extra credit if you go see a tutor and he clearly wants his students to be successful. He's a very fair grader and he's funny. He has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor, which I like. He is strict about class etiquette and expects students to be respectful. He's a fantastic teacher!

15 ec points avail, take them you'll need it if you last through the entire course that is. Rude when you ask q's. Prepare to study and have no life, the lecture book slides and whatever comes out of his mouth. Old school way of teaching. 25% QUIZZES 50% EXAMS (2 that is) 25% FINAL. Great teacher and super super passionate about this area, I didn't think I would like geology but found it super interesting. He most definitely will make you work for your grade and doesn't just handout grades but he is a fair grader. Tries to keep you engaged and will call you out for being on your phone or not paying attention.

This class was awesome! This was the first class I took after taking a year off and it was the best choice I made. Thanks to Jeff Grover for making me love school again, homework and lectures were fun and I learned so much.

Grover is the BEST. He is willing to help you if you're willing to put in the work. He saved my semester. He will geology interesting and he is hilarious. Nicest teacher at Cuesta! If you take lab the field trips are interesting.

Grover is an amazing teacher, and makes geology so incredibly interesting. I loved this class but be warned that taking his exams in lecture and lab are extremely challenging due to that his exams do not match what he lectures on! Study the book and every detail in lecture that he doesn't emphasize, that's what he tests on!

Grover is the man. I didn't even buy the book and i got a B. Take notes everyday in class, and study all your notes and you'll be fine. Take home quizzes are pretty much hw and I googled every question to find the answer. Idk how anyone can fail this class. It's college, show up and study a little bit

Grover is enthusiastic and passionate about teaching. He makes the subject interesting. It's not the easiest class, you have to put in work. I also took California Geology and Geological Hazards. He's encouraging and helpful. He's a fun dude with amazing stories. I highly recommend him as a professor !

Mr. Grover is very helpful, if you're willing to meet him halfway. He doesn't take any garbage and he has no problem calling people out for being disrespectful (using cell phones are a trigger) in class. He knows his stuff and he's passionate about his subject. He's very happy to share his knowledge, but he's not handing out gimme's.
