Comment:

Buckland is a very good prof. He is very knowledgeable and explains material clearly. I would take a class with him again, but he did not provide an exam review which made it difficult to prepare as there was so much information to cover. Fair marker and gives feed back, class was good overall, but really could have used the exam review.

His intro to IDS class is pretty hard in my opinion. Lots of reading (almost all the chapters in 2 books -none of which I read.. oops). His writing assignments were pretty interesting though. He tries to be very helpful but he's not always the clearest on what he wants from you. His lectures can be confusing but they're still very important.

Fair teacher for marks and a very interesting class overall. If you take any interest in this course, the assignments throughout the year will grow your interest and knowledge! I enjoyed the class very much. Good proff.

Overall a good prof. He really knows what he is talking about. Don't take him if you aren't into economics because he is an economic major and the course emphasizes this a lot...he admits this in his class. He is a fair marker but personally i thought the course was pretty hard.

He's a great prof that made a very challenging course (poverty focussed devp.) manageable. He can be a bit scattered, but when it comes down to it he really knows his stuff and will try his best to help you understand if you're struggling. He is a fair grader, if you put in the effort you'll do well. But you definitely can't just rely on b.s.!

jerry is a good prof, but i found that stupid allen & thomas textbook so hard to relate and understand. errr, before i took ids, i thought it'd be interesting, but i was wrong, the guy has the worse chalkboard skills. i will never take another ids course ever again sorry dude

buckland is a good prof and is always willing to discuss materials after class, which is often necessary as his lectures can be fairly unorganized and hard to follow. still if you can write and put thoughts together you can do very well in this class
