Attend Class, Take good notes, and Study hard, Practice with the practice exams posted and dont be afraid to Ask questions in class. Dr. Ren is a very enthusiastic professor and definitely enjoys teaching Organic Chemistry. The material and lab will get difficult but thats just the nature of OChem. Overall a very solid choice for this class.

Comment:
Attendance isnt mandatory but it is if you want a good grade. Dr. Ren tells you exactly what you need to remember and summarizes the book in a way that is understandable. She uploads powerpoints after class so be sure to go over them when studying. Her final is very hard and her accent takes getting used to as well. Def doable but must work hard.

Dr. Ren is very nice and approachable after class/ during office hours as well as through canvas (answers pretty quick). Lectures are summaries of the book and tbh the book isnt really needed. She tells you exactly what you need to remember (mechanisms/reagents etc). Volunteer and ask questions. You get used to her accent fast. Good luck in OChem:)

Lectures go long 99% of the time, but she doesn't care. Judgmental when you go to her office hours, worried about your grade. Examples in class are way easier than exam questions. Only release old exams from 2007, so they're too different from current exams to help. Pretends not to see students raising their hands to ask questions during lecture.

If you bombed the tests in her class, she would select a few problems and let you redo them, but this time they wouldn't be offered for partial credit, you would have to get the whole thing right, which is fair, since you've seen it before. She's very open to help you and if you get to know her (office hours, questions in class) she'll help you out

Dr. Ren is a strong choice for ochem 2. While she does have an accent, her lecture notes are clear as can be. Very helpful when you ask questions, and her exams are okay, not too easy and not too hard. The amount of work you put in to the class reflects the grade you will get. HER FINAL IS HARD THOUGH! But it's ochem, what do you expect?

Dr. Ren is not as bad as I heard from rumors past. She is funny and very knowledgeable about organic chemistry. She is sometimes awkward, but that's okay. Ask good questions in class!

I really liked Dr. Ren. Her lectures are clear, and her tests are reasonable, compared to Xue's tests. She is quite hilarious too! Only downside is that her class next semester is at 8 am...

Honestly, Dr. Ren is not that bad. Her accent is something that she can't really help, and she is understandable. Her notes are clear and organized. Tests are reasonable, and as long as you put in the time to study for this class, you should do fine. At least she is always willing to answer questions.

Difficult to understand at first, but after a few lectures, you get used to the accent. I read the textbook, did the end of chapter problems, went to workshop, and did her practice tests and got an A-. She's not the best lecturer, so the work and time you put into this class reflects the grade you'll get. Curves at the end too.

I had Ren for Gen Chem 27 and for both Ochem 1 and 2. Her accent is understandable. Attending lectures and writing down her problem examples from the board are very important in doing well. Do her practice exams over and over again. Not a great explainer, but the textbook/Google sufficed.

Took both 121 and 123 from her. Hard to understand. Exams are straight forward, but a lot harder than the examples used in class. Not helpful in office hours. Can't explain well and confuses herself.

crappy teacher. exams are not material covered in lecture. examples in class are super easy but she does not go into depth on more difficult problems so that makes the exams really annoying. not friendly at all. if you go to her office hours to ask questions, she just gets mad and tells you to go read the book. shes completely useless

Ren's notes are pretty clear, but her english isn't. The only reason why I attended her class was to make sure I got the notes right. She's easier than Xue, but she doesn't teach as well. If you want a high grade, make sure to practice every day Avoid silly mistakes. She curves a bit at the end ~7%. Her Finals was hard. Try to attend Xues lectures.

unorganized teaching style. goes overtime and still can't suffice in explaining questions. tells you nothing that the book has already told you. test isn't like the book questions or wkshop questions. her test is OK but her lecture is seriously useless. just read the book and figure things out on your own- it's faster..

Got an A in her class. Her tests are very similar to her old tests (that she puts online). she goes directly off the book, so read if you don't understand lectures. review the notes and do practice problems! don't need to do workshop problems.

Do not take Ren for ochem. Her accent is terrible. Her notes lack explanation. She does not emphasize what material is important and what material is not. Her exams are not a fair test of what she teaches in class. The examples she give are extremely easy and misleading. Her tests are very very difficult and I would never recommend taking her.

She was a pretty good professor. she could be boring sometimes, but everything she teaches is on the test. she also gives out handouts an questions that are really useful for her midterms. Plus, her curve is pretty generous. I suggest taking her, just do the book problems, practice test (which are also useful), handouts, and listen to her = A
