I took him bc i needed another W course. We had to read a bunch of books (which i didn't read) and i still did really well in his class. Some people think he's boring but i really enjoyed most of his lectures. take good notes in class and don't skip. study hard for his tests (he tells you what to study)

John Bienz is an amazing teacher. A bona fide genius. If you actually listen in his class you learn the most fascinating things. He also offers help outside of class, and will answer any questions you have for papers and exams. If you do a little work, you can do fine in his class.

Bienz is one of those guys you feel bad when you skip his class because he is so boring. You dread going to his class because of how boring he is, but he means well and is excited about teaching the class. The class is challenging, but he is a fair grader!

He was quite possibly the worst teacher I've ever had, I learned more about his political leanings than I did english! It was a useless class and I got a B in the class, I didn't learn anything he taught nothing of value. It was an annoying class.

I don't know what you heard, but he is an awesome teacher! Very clear on what you need to know and won't throw you any curve balls on the test. Before you turn in a big paper he edits it for you, and in turn you make the proper corrections. You can't get much more helpful than that.

He's a great prof... if you are an English major. If you are, he's a great source of information, and he's very accessable for help. You'll have to take his classes nomatter what if you are an English major, but if you aren't, don't kill yourself.
