Comment:

Very smart, tends to ramble and go off on tangents. Kind of a quirky personality. Super knowledgeable but tends to talk AT students, not with them. Not very many written assignments in total, but still lots of reading along the way, though there's not much accountability for actually doing thorough readings; I got away without doing a whole lot.

Comment:

Professor Burt knows so much about history, English, and politics. I learned so much about the world in general from his class. He talks a lot and goes off on a lot of tangents, but you learn a lot from those too. The reading is pretty fast-paced but it is definitely worth it.

I took both romanticism one and two with Burt and was always amazed to see at his ability to free-associate. He's hilarious, energetic, and truly loves his job. He's a lousy poet, though.

Lectures were wild adventures. He made poetry pure fun. He had an adventurous and unrushed attitude, and the best laugh I ever heard. He's also a fine poet. It was an unstressful class which taught me some things that stick years later.

Comment:

Fascinating lecturer though prone to tangential ramblings. Made romanticism seem even more mystical. Very helpful outside of class, though had to be approached as he did not make effort to know his students. Has good sense of humor.
