He's a very friendly and nice professor. His classes are entertaining and hilarious and he will keep you engaged by occasionally throwing in a funny story that happened to him in real life. He definitely had an interesting life lol! His class is pretty easy and his grading is beyond reasonable. Lose points for skipping class. Highly recommended.

Great teacher, super nice guy. He was definitely a great start to my business classes at BC. He's a really well rounded guy and knows his stuff in more areas than just business, which shows in his teaching.

Professor McAlvay is very nice and willing to help when needed. There is one big group project - make sure you get into a good group! If you take notes in class and study a little bit before tests they are very manageable.

He's very nice, great stories but all his tests are vocabulary, You better off reading ahead and taking notes then going at his slow speed. Just write the word and the definition and remember that. Theres a big group project at the end of the quarter. He grades tough on the project and paper

John was the best instructor I have ever had! He always had crazy stories and made class enjoyable! Attendance mandatory but class is so much fun that you will WANT to show up. Tests easy, almost completely multiple choice. Term project and interview/tech report given at the beginning of the quarter only assignments. easy class, AMAZING professor!!

This was a fun class to go to, teacher was funny and great to listen to,hardly any HM WK just study for tests, I'm a horrible test taker even if I study for hrs so my grade wasn't up to par but,I would take his class again if I had to.

Great teacher!! if you enjoy group work and being creative then this is the class for you. He also mixes in fun stories and videos with his lectures. It is a very interactive class. I took it for 2 hrs two days a week and he always gave us a stretch break as well as a ten minute break. It was nice.

Great teacher! Makes class fun with group activities and he is really one of the nicest people I've met. He makes sure everyone in class understands the lecture. The class is pretty straight forward but he makes it that much more easy to learn. Awesome teacher!

Really fun teacher. Relaxed classroom environment. He is very funny, kooky, and tells personal anecdotes which are always relevant because he has good experience in the field. Always helps students after class. Workload is light, 1 paper, 5 exams, and a group project. Make sure to come to class because group activities count towards your grade.

One of the best teachers I ever had! He tells a lot of stories about his adventures but they were interesting and related to the topics we discussed. He doesn't like to have long, boring lectures and would add in some group activities from time to time. Tests aren't difficult if you take good notes and study them.

Best business 101 class in the world. I dont understand why he doesnt have a 5 in all of them. Very understanding, caring and he tries to which it up with activites and lecture so it's not always him talking all the time. If you dont take him you will regret it! His classes are probably always full anyways

He's cool and funny. Many people advise me to take another business prof but i'm glad i went with McAlvay. He's great ! Can't really tell you why but just the flow of the class is good (he keeps things interesting). He tells alot of his life stories about everything (and ties it with the subject). He's old school, using the overhead for everything.
