John Somers is very understanding! There isn't allot to do but the concepts are tough if you haven't taken geometry because there's math problems that are based on graphs. I only have 1 complaint - his notes are not organized. Don't fall behind in your reading because it accumulates.

This class was good. You have many chances to get a good grade. Lots of work. From discussions, homework, summary reviews and quizzes, this class will for sure keep you busy. But just do the work and you'll pass.

I've taken John for both Ex 201 and EC 202. He is an amazing teacher especially for such a difficult course. Class is made up of discussion posts, quizzes, two article summaries, and two exams, and he offers extra credit. What is required to get a good grade is very straight forward. I've received very good grades in both of these classes!

I took John for BA 211, and all the homework and assignments were the same! He offers extra credit, and is tests are reasonable. BEWARE, there is a lot of reading to do, especially for the assignments. We have to answer questions in the book, and some are very long! so if you aren't much of a reader don't take this teacher.

It's a shame that John is only teaching part-time now; he is a very clear instructor. He references the text a lot, which isn't a bad thing. I will say that the summer course moves at a fast pace, so you better read the book; however, John provides many resources to further cement the material. Good guy.

Pretty tough class, but if I would have attended more I probably could have gotten an A. This teacher doesnt really make anything interesting, but he gets the points across in a decent fashion. Social skills should be required to be a teacher, unfortunately he is not one of the people who has them.

Quick opinion, take this guy for a low grade! He relys on transparencies, which are flashed by so fast its hard to see. He has a tendency to ramble, and major issues with thought progress. Most of the students in the class are barely comprehending whats going on, questions make it all that much worse! Skips around all over the book, no order sadly

Economics is a pretty hard subject for most people. This teacher gives you almost immediate feedback throughout the term, so you really have no excuse for not knowing how well you are doing. Gives extra credit and makeup work opportunities. Absolutely one of the best economics teachers that you will find at PCC.

Let me first say that microeconomics is, by its nature, a VERY difficult subject to grasp unless your mind is completely geared that way. Somers makes it as tolerable as possible. While every SINGLE point counts in his classes he is helpful and lays out what he wants from you very clearly. I took this course online and recommend him.

I took this as an online course and found it REALLY challenging. Unless you have some background knowledge in Econ, it?s hard to grasp the concepts. Required to take your midterm and final ON CAMPUS ? YUCK! Every point you miss can count against your grade and inflexible with grading. Take this class on campus if you have the option!

Took for an online class. Total points for term was 260, so every single point can hurt more than help. Missed an A by 5 points, and teacher didn't curve anything. Asked if I could do anything to bump my score and was told that if I had done better on the final I would have earned a better grade. Hmmm, now why didn't I think of that? Do not take!!!

He is a good teacher. In class he lectures and you do some group work. His tests and quizzes are not too difficult as long as you have kept up with the reading. If you come to class and do the homework you should get at least a B.

Economics is not an easy subject especially online. John's quizes are hard but he offsets these scores with homework assignments and chapter quizzes which are more reasonable (open book). He even gives out extra credit work. It's a lot of material and theory to cover.

Had him for micro and macro econ. I loved this guy. Seemed like I was the only one that answered questions. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. The tests and quizzes come straight out of the text website. People that put in extra effort and study get better grades, simple. Even has practice tests online with EXACT wording for midterm and final!

Multiple choice exams were terribly written but homework assignments and debates were cake walk. Very easy grader. Quizzes were online and open book open notes and you could work with other people/discuss on blackboard but the questions were often confusing. Overall, pretty good teacher. Easy class minus the poorly written exam questions.

Took the online class. Questions on quizes were vague and hard to understand. When you ask him questions, he responds by telling you to ask another student or look it up. Will never take a class from him again.
