Comment:
Don't take any class with this professor. I took his online class and I had to dropped it because I went to his office to ask him some questions since this was my first online class and he was rude, very unprofessional, and not respect. He was sarcastic since English is my second langue. He should't be an educator with that bad attitude.

If you need an elective just take this class and get it out of the way. Online it was 3 easy tests with all of the answers online. Then a 10 page paper that is a little annoying but that's it. It's worth there being no other work besides that. Easy A and barely any work.

Honestly if you don't really care for politics and just need the class as a prerequisite I say this is your guy, its an EASY A.. he bullS*&% every lecture, and the best part is you don't need to buy a book for his class. I recommend 11/10, if you are majoring in politics and care to learn the material, I recommend taking a different professor.

Rants about random things most of the time, gives you the notes needed for the tests, 10 page research paper, and a presentation. If you keep up with the news, you have a chance for extra credit. He spent a whole class telling us we should get a masters and come back to teach at Valencia. If you want to learn about gov, take a different professor.

This was, without question, the worst class I've taken at Valencia. The professor hit the "on" button and went into ghost mode. We never saw or heard from him again. The whole course was a term paper and a big three part final. No homework, no discussions, no instruction, and no learning. He may be good in person but avoid his online class.

John Tobia can be described as a man who has a rude and rough exterior, but a nice guy on the inside. He'll tell you that you're gonna fail a test, but that's just to scare you into studying. He's very clear on what you need to do pass his class. As long as you do exactly what is told, this class is an easy A.

3 tests and a 10 page paper is all you have to do for this course. Tests are easy, you can just look things up in the book and you have 2 hours to answer 50 questions. I took him online and got an A. Never had an issue with anything, would take him again :)

Amazing professor, who even though does not say it, he cares for the students. Group presentation ( very interesting). Few written papers , no homework. Two exams and lots of good conversations about politics...

Professor Tobia was very funny and one of the most easy going instructor I've ever had. He tends to go into tangent conversations and topic, but his lectures are very clear and to-the point. He made learning about the general basis of government easy to learn and comprehend. Just attend class, listen, and take notes. The class is very easy.

Had for US gov. He was the funniest professor I've ever had. He'd lecture for a bit and then talk about other things that would apply to the lesson, but they were always crazy stories. A lot of my grade really just came from studying, and he'll tell you what to study. Test is easy A -IF YOU STUDY-. If you ask him questions he'll help honestly.

Most unclear professor I have ever taken in my life . Not only does he waste all of class time talking about movies, but he just simply does not care about teaching. He gives 2 tests and 2 essays, which do not have clear guidelines and expect you to know what to do. The most important thing I took from this class was moviepass, so there you go.

Probably the worst professor I have ever had. I personally red the chapters a few times and did not find them easily for the test(Physical book). Some weren't even really important just random things. I was given a horrible grade on my paper even after getting help from two creative writing tutors and received no feed back. My first D ever.

Took the online course. His exams are word-for-word from the book (basically fill-in-the-blank). If you don't have the PDF where you can use the CTRL-F function to find the specific sentence or word from the book, count yourself out. You don't have time to sit there and sift through pages and find a single sentence. The 10 page paper isn't too bad.

I took the online flex term class, 3 exams straight from the book and a 10 pages essay, the essay is easy since you have a lot of aspects to compare and the exams of course are going to be from the book

Do NOT take this online flex start class unless you can figure out everything yourself. 3 exams and 1 ten page paper & all 3 exams are hard with most of the answers being in the textbook and only a few online. Called him to ask for clarification on the paper and I've never been spoken to so rudely. He is a senator also so just think about that lol

He is not helpful or accessible. If you ever have an unexpected situation and can't get an assignment in on time, don't expect him to be understanding and let you turn it in later. If you choose to take the class then be ready to take the class on your own basically and best of luck to you.

Professor Tobia was available & helped guide me in the 10-page required paper. No lectures, assignments, or "class" participation, and only 3 exams required. Unfortunately, Pearson lab was not part of the class, but that kept textbook cost down. I would recommend for students who are skilled at learning on their own.

I took his online class over the summer. This class only had 3 exams and 1 ten page paper. There were no assignments to help you learn what you needed to pass the exams. Take at your own risk if you can learn from a textbook only.
