I went to class sometimes. The class is super easy. I didn't show up to the midterm and aced the final exam. I studied the material the night before the exam and basically the same questions. She puts 1-3 questions from the midterm on the exam so that nice. Just memorize the homework and test and you're get an a for sure. YOLO

In a word, "no". Take Pchem at another school if you can. Her courses are all very difficult, if for no other reason than that she does not know how to communicate clearly in the classroom. Or outside of it. Tests are not impossible but you will teach yourself everything from the book. Don't expect her to help you. Many students got C's or less.

Her courses suck. She doesn't know how to teach, her lectures are robotic and uninteresting. There's a good reason why people blame her - she is not nice in office hours and doesnt' care much about teaching. Her in-class student evaluations were not good and they took her off teaching Pchem for awhile, i guess she's back now. I don't recommend her

Most of the people I see complaining on here most likely do not take responsibility for their own misfortunes, and would rather just blame the professor instead of working harder. Dr. Kong makes it very clear what you'll be tested (study the Hw's). As long as you have the math skills, the class will not be as hard as some make it out to be.

By far the hardest class I've taken. Lectures help but honestly I think I would have been better off skipping class and just repeating hw/test questions over and over until I've memorized them. Very little cushion for your grade as it is almost entirely dependent on the final exam. Very stressful class to have in senior year of ChemE.

She's a great professor because she uses occasional humor as she explains this difficult topic, which I think helps people pay attention. Don't be too intimidated, she's actually very nice. Also don't kid yourself: go to class, because you're not the next prodigal genius! I think it's true she is more research focused, but she cares about teaching.

She is not good. Plain and simple. She is a good researcher. She knows a lot about physical chemistry and physics. She does not have a good way of teaching it though, and thinks that anyone who doesn't understand her contorted way of teaching, is stupid. Does not belong in education. Take Pchem with someone else if you can.

I didn't learn anything in her course. It was like she didn't want to be teaching because she is so busy with her own research. When I went to her office hours, she just didn't want to answer my questions and told me to go try to figure it all out on my own. It was a miracle that I got a B in the course thanks to homework and extra credit!

Best chemistry professor I've had here. Left the class with a better understanding of chemistry and the world around us. Would recommend.

Very hard to understand during lecture and her handwriting was really hard to read. Notes from the class are useless, the practice tests and the homework are what's tested.

Kong liked to "challenge" us on midterms and finals. Remotely similar problems will never be in MT or finals. She will help you if you come to her office hours. Quiet voice, need to sit close to hear. Know the concept EXTREMELY well and you will do well. Let the units guide you. Very high expectations.

People need to realize that PChem is difficult no matter who teaches it. The material is difficult but Dr. Kong is very lenient; she made PChem as easy she could. I really liked her. I'm an average student and yet I did ok in 441&442 (B- & C grades). Study from mainly the HW and previous exams, plus from the lecture notes then you should do ok.

She is very, very intelligent and this is reflected in the coursework. People complain about her classes being difficult, when really they're just bad at math. If you have questions about the mathematics, go talk to her and she will be accommodating.

Good luck. Problems on tests come from HW but are manipulated, so memorization is helpful but won't guarantee anything. Make sure you know terms and obscure equations from the book.

she isn't good. she obviously never learned how to teach and although she's been at OSU forever and teaching forever, she still ain't got it. I won't go into details about her deficiencies but I did complain to the Chem department about her after I took her course. needs to just work with her PhD students and not teach lecture courses.

greatest teacher ever. The material is way hard but kong lays it out for you. plus all the test questions are straight from the HW. you have to get used to people whining cause the can't pass any of the test.even though she tells you exactly whats going to be on them in the review. Be prepared to study can't just walk threw p chem.
