Friedman is great. He made the class very interesting, and the homework was relevant and not overwhelming. There is a massive group project due at the end of the course, as well as a 10-15 page paper. I recommend this course and this professor to any history major.

He really cares but his class quality could use some work. Most of the classes consisted of listening to him lecture, group discussion, watching a video, or discussing a reading/documents. As a history class, this makes sense, that's how these things typically go. Beware of the museum project. Start early. Your classmates won't.

Take this class for an easy History gen ed. Big part of the grade is participation, which means raising your hand one time in class, and if you dont, you can hand in like 3 homework questions for the points. Cite the text in the short papers and you will get a 10/10. He is also very kind and understanding

Dr. Friedman is a great professor. He does gove a lot of reading but it's interesting and really helps during the class discussions. His grading is really fair and is willing to help and gives good feedback. His goal in class is to enhance your critical thinking and to be able to interpret and understand the literature especially for history majors

Understands that 99% of people there are looking for an A and is willing to make class easy enough so that you can get that A but you have to at least show up and pretend that you're really interested. Show up to class everyday because he takes attendance and gives you grades on showing up. Just put in a little effort and you'll get an A

I like Pro. Friedman a lot. He is the best history professor that i ever know. He likes to help students and expects us communicate through group works. The class is not extremely hard. Some worksheets are done at home, Travel Journey-PPT like group work, and some simulations about the historic events. I enjoy these activities and I enjoy the class

History of Jewish Modernity is a great class. If you want to learn Dr. Friedman gives you all the right tools to succeed. The lectures are long, but he keeps them interesting. Star Wars is one of his many analogies. If your a HISTORY Graduate I recommend you take him... It's a break fr all the teacher a who are brutally hard and degrading.

Friedman is a very nice man but not one of my favorite professors. He likes to do simulations of different events that occurred in history, they are pointless and are not fun,he assigns a lot of readings and requires a lot of outside research. If you do not have a German history background or you are not a Holocaust enthusiast,I wouldn't suggest him.

Honestly, Dr. Friedman is one of my favorite professors I have met at WCU. He is friendly and approachable, which is key, especilly in a history course. I have taken him for three other courses I have liked him that much. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! You'll be glad you did!
