Prof Rosenberg is a nice person. He tries to make the lecture interesting and can be funny. He can get particular about kids talking during lecture though. The grade is based on a midterm, final and paper.

Great Lectures, made boring topics a little more interesting. He could be funny because there are many who laughed but I didn't get much of the jokes. Lots of reading but still worth taking

Awesome prof! Super funny and extremely easy to follow lectures. Relatively harsh grader but if you study your notes and the book you'll be fine. Actually pay attention in lecture though and take down notes because that's all you get!

It has been an honor to take Professor Rosenberg this semester. I felt my writing has improved. I am definitely going to take him again next semester for his graduate class. He knows how to start a good class discussion. Also he knows how to choose books and is a renown historian. He is very accessible outside of class and responds quickly.

Rosenberg is an incredibly intelligent and erudite professor. His lectures are long but interesting and the discussions are always fruitful and probing. If you take him, prepare for 200-250 pages a week, plus a 1 page reflection, which he grades based on completion but gives good feedback on. SO much work, but worth it if you put in the effort.

I absolutely love history on it's own but his lectures were awesome. He tells them like a story which makes it so much easier. This class is the reason I'm considering majoring in history.

His lectures were really interesting, he tells history like it's a storybook, filled with funny references and facts. He's very professional, and a bit of a tough grader. You need to write out a chronological outline for the paper you want to write for the midterm and final, and FILL IT with facts that he's shared in class, so take good notes!

He is a great and knowledgeable professor, and his lectures are interesting. Attendance was not mandatory, but I advise going as the lectures would help you do well on the exams. There was a midterm, a short paper, and a final exam. However, this is all graded by the T.A. in the discussion class, which was mandatory; so it depends on whom you have.

I don't want to sound stupid but the way he speaks is just too smart for me. He loves using original sources and quote famous historical figures. He is very interested in the topic so sometimes he just talks about it too much and lectures become confusing. Write IDs on separate sheet! They are very useful for tests, write essays in chronological ord

Great lecturer - doesn't use powerpoint but is a great speaker and really brings the subject to life. He has a great way of tying history to current events in a way I haven't experienced w another prof. There is required reading but it's not essential. Your grade really depends upon the TA, but all assignments were clear and well-structured.

I dont understand the people who are complaining, he is a good professor. He made it very interesting despite the fact I hate history. He offers help if you go to his office hours. The midterm and final are all in-class essays. Hard if you dont do readings or show up to lecture. Attendance mandatory in disussions, not in lecture. He's a good prof.

Professor Rosenberg does not really teach and spends a lot of time correcting incorrect comments made by students; there is no lecture before class discussion so it becomes a free for all at times

Mixed feelings about this class. Grading is done by TA, so it depends on your luck. Essays expected alot of SPECIFIC examples and explanations. Having great writing skills would get you a better grade. Review sheet has specific essay topics. Attendance not mandatory, but you NEED IDs so make a friend. Professor himself is capturing. Hate syllabus.

Watch out graduate students, this professor is very hard. Discussions are impossible to take part in as he does not appreciate any opinion that may be different than his. Very hard to please. At the end of the day, it's either his way or nothing.

I pity those who were unable to have this professor during their first semester. His lectures are told like a story. His exams are a bit difficult, but if you study prior to it, and read the material, you should be fine as long as you know how to write well. He is friendly, professional, funny, and knowledgeable in his subject, I highly recommend.

first history professor i ever enjoyed having; lectures very interesting and flowing, follows the bullets he writes down so it's easy to take organized notes; a midterm, a paper, and a final; memorize the IDs for easy points! review sheets for a few possible essay topics, make outlines for them because two will definitely appear! barry = cool T.A.
