Comment:

Dr. Glance is not the most entertaining professor out there, but he is a phenomenal teacher, and the broad range of subject matter he covers really helps you grow as a student. The class was more difficult than other INT classes on campus and it was boring at times, but I grew so much as a writer I'm really glad I took it in retrospect.

Dr. Glance is a hard professor who is really quirky. He laughs at his own jokes and going to his class is miserable. But an A is attainable, especially if you complete the daily writings.

I love Dr. Glance! I've had him for ENG 237 and ENG 349. He was the best in all of them. He is very passionate about his work, and he wants his students to learn. He is a very efficient grader, giving great feedback on all of his students works. He cares about his students. I really enjoyed taking his classes. He is just awesome and the best!

Expect to do a reading and writing every night, on top of your formal paper assignments. A lot of work, but you will be a totally new writer by the end. Makes you earn your A.

His lectures are pointless and he makes class mandatory even on days where there is little or nothing to discuss. Every time you correct a paper the way he wants it to be done, he finds another way to take points off. Take a different teacher.

Definitely expects a lot from students, but as long as you read and keep up with class discussions, you will be fine. Hard paper grader, visit him during office hours for help and you get an 'A'.

Since he is the director of the FYS program, he has to take it seriously. You will have to read the books he assign since you will discuss it everyday and write essays on it. Maybe you'll find a way around that...He also requires that you write dailies almost every class day over the stuff you read. Basically, lots of reading and even more writing!

Dr. Glance is the director of the FYS program, so he makes it too tough, I think. There are harder professors for FYS, but there are definitely easier ones too. He's a really good guy, very understanding, and will postpone due dates for papers, but he's vague and doesn't answer questions well, if he has time. Advising wasn't all that great either.

dr glance made this class very interesting, he was very knowledgeable about the material. it did require a good bit of reading and writing but i got alot out of it and didnt feel that he was a hard or unreasonable grader. overall the class was enjoyable and i would recommend taking him for anything!

Glance made it so interesting, even when we came in and could barely discuss Northanger Abbey. He was very understanding and was interested in why we all hated it. He made coming to class prepared a joy, & the open discussion was excellent. Top Notch.
