Only assignments are 3 tests. 2 based on 2 separate books and another 1 based on online readings and lectures. EXTREMELY disorganized. Too hard and not enough assignments for a 200 level class. Must have open mind as he is extremely biased. Messed up last test so much he had to give everyone a 100 on the test. If you like to read, you'll do well.

If you need a stats class, take this one. It is upper division so you get 2 requirements taken care o at once. This guy really has no idea what he is doing but his tests reflect it. Go to class because there are in-class assignments that are about 20% of the grade but as long as you "give an honest attempt" you get full credit. Total GPA padder.

Worst teacher I have ever had in my life!!Doesn't respond, doesn't care, calls us complainers when he switches around the order of the exams without telling students so they study the wrong material. I am so angry; this guy is causing me to lose my financial aid because he won't even answer a simple email question.

Took this class online and Worst teacher Ive ever had! He doesnt answer your questions and just doesnt care about students. I have a 4.0 and this lower level class is going to ruin it. Dont expect to get better than a B. thank god for students next semester cuz he is retiring. Even my counsler said that him retiring was a blessing for ASU!

please do not take this class! Worst of my college career. I was so disappointed with the teaching quality. Poor organization. Poor arguments. Poor explanation. This class gets a big F and an believe me, I will tell every student I know to watch out for this teacher.

This was not the best experience of my college career. I had such high hopes for this class and expected Prof. Cobas to be quite a firecracker based on some reviews I had read about his work. He is intelligent but boring. He talks in circles often and his lectures are a snooze. I didn't feel as though I was challenged at all. I wanted more.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Hill book but otherwise...lectures were boring and rambling. This was not the class I had hoped for but with only 3 tests and no other assignments (online class) it is pretty easy. He is unforgiving, so don't even try. I would not suggest this to anyone who is looking for an in-depth experience.

This was the worst experience that I have ever had at ASU. The class is overly easy and pretty much a waste of time. I played on the internet the whole class period and never listened to a word he said and ended up with a 98% in the class. Attendance is a must since there are daily in-class assignments.Avoid it if you can.

I took this class online and was very unhappy with my experience. The 3 tests were all T/F with only 25 questions. The point system was definitely messed up. The two assigned books were not well written and seemed pretty biased. I will certainly not take this professor agin.

OK, the serious scoop on Soc 390 is this. Cobas is an incopetent dumbass, whose probably on meds. But honestly. The class is easy as pie. 1 homework of ussually 1 equation a week that takes less than 10 min's to do. I thought this class would be WAY hard. Its not so. ANSWER WITH EXACTLY what cobas told you to say on the tests which are easy and=A

This class is a joke. Frequently the professor has forgotten what he was teaching in the middle of the lecture and then dismissed the class. His online notes pretty in depth and will teach you everything you need to know. If there weren't daily assignments there's no reason to attend class.

This class was way too easy. If you care about statistics at all, taking this class will be will a complete waste of time. Dr. Cobas is incoherent during his lectures and thinks the b.s. that he is teaching is actually difficult when it is suitable for a kindergartner. However, if you just need stats credit and an easy A, than take this class.

I took this class online and it was EXTREMELY EASY!!! you get one set of powerpoint slides to finish in 2 weeks and they consist of 10 slides. The only downfall is there are only 2 tests so your grade depends highly on them

This is by far one of the worst taught classes on ASU, Cobas is rude and useless, however pay attention to the lectures since they will appear on the first test. The tests while easy for me, will be difficult for some by the way he words his answers, for some of the answers he will say some instead of all or none which will throw of a lot of people

Great teacher, really easy class if you attend and ask questions if you are not understanding. He can ramble a little but he is really nice and willing to help if you have problems. I would love to take another class from this teacher. Easy A+ loved this class

The post below mine is 100% wrong! They must be smoking! I took his class last semester, and it was ridiculous! He presents the class as if he does not like white people, and never responds to emails! I am still waiting for responses to his emails? In my opinion he does not care about his students!

Professor had a way of talking in circles, but the notes for each lecture were very clear and easy to understand. Not much to remember for exams and he is very helpful when you e-mail him to ask questions. Homework every week but it takes less than 20 minutes and isn't due until the next week.
