Comment:

Very straight to the point. Assigned chapters every week (easy reads and no more than 2-3), written responses weekly, and 4 30-40 question tests. Very doable course, the writing assignments are basically all summaries. Tests are very straight forward and not difficult. I recommend getting the book online, it makes searching for topics/words easier!

Comment:

I honestly didn't learn that much in this class just because it is online. Tests are pretty easy if you focus and use your time since you get 1 min per question. Extra credit is what really helped me - brought me from 91 to 98. Got 3 Bs and one 98 on the tests and ended with a 97 in the class. Do the assignments each week and you'll be fine.

Comment:

Professor Dinapoli is very knowledgeable about the brain and wants his students to succeed. I had an 89.11% as a final grade and due to the extra credit and his consideration I ended up with an A- ! I enjoyed taking Dinapoli's class and learned so much! You do have to read a lot and a paper/quiz is due every week. I learned a lot so I didn't mind.

Comment:

I took this class online. First, I did not like how he opened up his assignments so late. It was hard to plan ahead because he did not give me enough time to complete his assignments. Also, I would spend hours on his assignments and not get a good grade. For an elective, it was an extremely hard class, he asked for too much. Do not take him.

Comment:

This is a great class! I normally hate online classes but this one was a gem. It is very organized and its a lot of work but you learn so much and the topic is very interesting. He is a great professor who knows his stuff and will answer any questions you have. There is a lot of reading involved in this class but most of it is very interesting.

This class was a lot more work than I thought. I got an 89.11 in the class which rounded to an A-, thanks to the kindness of the Professor. He is a good professor and you can tell he is extremely knowledgeable about what he is teaching. It's a difficult class though with a lot of reading and writing about a 4 page paper every week and a half.

writing intensive? yes. weekly papers. if you actually time manage, you'll be fine. i recommend highlighting for essays but also online exams because they are timed for 1 min/question but I answered with first instinct and used rest of time to go back and double check, got A's on those. Class requires effort but if you can write, you'll be fine.

If you don't like to write essays don't take this class online. You have to do summaries of every chapter. Very detailed and 3-page essays of them. Nothing for this class is essay. Tests are 1min for each question and your grade is based on those essays and tests. You also need to rent 2 books! Overall, I wouldn't recommend this class online.

I enjoyed the course, very interesting class. Yet, Dinapoli always assigns busy work; if you so much as miss one assignment in the class, you can kiss your A goodbye. His TA's who graded everything seemed to hand out 100's even if you b.s-ed a paper. The tests stressed me out, 1 min/ question (30) There is an E.C. discussion forum open all term.

Comment:

Most of the class is busy work and homework writing short essays. The grading criteria is clearly laid out, and as long as you complete that it's fine. Tests are based on the notes from the modules, they can be pretty tough, and are timed (30 mins for 30 questions). Overall good, I just didn't learn much unfortunately because it was online.

This class wasn't bad. Yes, there are essays and quizzes (for the lab) almost every week but they weren't that difficult if you read the books. I don't like that he gives one minute per question on most tests. He usually responds quickly to questions on his "ask the teacher" discussion page. Overall I would recommend this class.

I have had multiple courses with Dinapoli and have done well and enjoyed them. Yes, he's a fairly strict grader but he's consistent. Your mini essays should be thorough (which isn't hard because you're basically writing summaries from the book). You should read the book. Everything is based on the textbook. I would take a class w Dinapoli again.

Professor DiNapoli is a great professor. I have took him almost every semester and I wish I could take him for every class. I love his teaching style, and you will learn something from his classes. He is very nice and really cares about his students, and he wants the best for his students. I love him! Take him Take him!

Took Professor DiNapoli for two classes and he has been one of my favorite professors. For his Brain Stories class, the expectations are extremely clear and he gives you credit for open ended assignments as long as your response is thoughtful and indicates that you've done the required reading. Probably the most organized teacher I've had!

I have taken 3 classes with this professor and would do it all over again. He cares about the student and how the student learns.He takes time to comment on your assignments. He asks for your input into his teachings, it is impossible to take this course and not learn something. He is a true representation of a GREAT professor.

He is a very knowledge professor and knows a lot about the subject; However, he is a terrible in-class professor. He uses multiple interjections and disfluencies when he speaks which makes it very hard to follow along. He is also has a terrible superiority complex, and does not given clear explanations of assignments. Take online if possible!

This class is super easy!! Yes it's a lot of work, but it's really not that hard just keep up with the modules and learn to manage your time. The book is pretty necessary. He is very clear and direct on what he wants which is always a plus for online classes.
