Came into the class pretty nervous about Dr. Irvine. I might have a different opinion after the first midterm, but this guy is one of the best professors I've had. Lots of reading for sure and that gets annoying. And he does expect a lot out of you. But his cold calling and humor keeps you engaged on a dry subject for 50 min. Pretty impressive.

Expects too much from his students, class is 3 days a week ,meaning you must have taken very descriptive notes of 3 chapters or else you will lose points in participation and pop quizzes.

One of my favorites. There is a lot of reading and he cold calls, but the reading is basically a bunch of Jerry Springer style stories so it's not entirely dry. And it's more so general concepts and lots of important stuff in bold, so even if you're super tired just reading over once will be enough to get through class. Tests are tough but fair.

Irvine is a great professor and person who you can tell genuinely cares about his students. Very accessible out of class and wants to help. However, the class is a solid 2 hours of reading 3 times a week, and exams are difficult. Generous curve at end of class

The only thing good about Irvine is his personality. Amazing guy, extremely funny, and very knowledgeable. However, DO NOT take for law. This was by far the hardest class I have ever taken and the most work I've done than all of my other classes combined. He's a great person, but not worth 2+ hours of reading 3x a week and insanely hard exams.

great guy who makes the class fairly interesting. will definitely hold your attention, but cold calls for pretty much every question in class. 20 pages of dense reading roughly every two days. Def easier profs you could take

Prof Irvine is amazing at what he does. He's by far one of the most passionate professors I have ever taken, and the only professor that woke you up at 8am- for a law class. He is by far one of the best professors at Fisher. However, the class is notoriously difficult- tons of reading and cold calls, with little to 0 grades. Pray for a curve.

There are def easier professors you could take. But Irvine is the best. He's so funny, makes you WANT to learn the material and makes you work for this. Make sure you read every night. He likes to call on people and you better know the answer. If you sit in the front row, he calls on you less. The exams are more application based so know your stuff

Prof Irvine really knows Law well and enjoys teaching it. He gives very engaging lectures so BE PREPARED when he calls on you. Attendance is mandatory (graded) but worth it since you learn a lot and he's also hilarious! READ the chapters/handouts, TAKE NOTES, and GO TO CLASS. The class isn't easy but I learned so much and enjoyed every meeting. 5/5

Don't take him early in the day, and definitely don't sit front row or he'll call on you nonstop. Readings every class and 50-100 questions on midterm and final. Way too much work for 1.5 credits. Pop quizzes as well. Heavy reading. Heavy lecture. Must show up to class for participation.

Irvine is a great guy and makes the criteria interesting. However, he goes SO fast and calls on you at random in class. It's hard to keep up. Graded on attendance and participation. Exams are fairly difficult; put in work and you can pull of a B on them. Don't be afraid to ask questions because when he passes it, he won't go back.

Irvine is very passionate about law, which is what made his class fun and interesting. However, it is a lot of work. You have to read each chapter and takes notes so that you can answer any question he throws at you during class. He is super energetic in class and expects a lot out of everyone. His exams are also decently challenging as well.

Professor Irvine is one of my favorite professors I've ever had. He makes the potentially boring subject of law interesting. Make sure to do all of the readings, though, because class participation is a must if you want a good grade. The exams are a little tough, but as long as you keep up on the readings and engage with him in class, you'll do ok

This is my second time taking professor Irvine and I enjoyed it just as much as the first. Law is a pretty dry subject but Irvine does a great job livening it up. If participation is low or people do not know the material, he will have pop quizzes so read the chapters. Exams are tough but fair if you study appropriately

Had Irvine for 3500 my freshman year and enjoyed his class so much I decided to take 4510 as a finance elective my senior year. Same format as 3500, 7 weeks with a whole lot of reading and participation required. Favorite classes and professor by far at OSU, really cares that you learn the material and does it in a fun way. Highly recommended!!!

Very smart man; extremely knowledgable about his subject. Makes law somewhat interesting. Lots of reading and he cold calls you in class. Exams are very tough (the final was 81 questions in 80 minutes) but he gives a fair curve. If you do the readings and show up to class you will do decent.

Exams are horrendous. 81 questions in 80 minutes and each question is based off of a wordy text prompt. Confusing, he labels three participants in a problem Jack Jill and Joe. Unnecessarily hard and he tries to make you fail those exams.

Irvine is an extremely engaging and intelligent professor. The midterm & final together make up over 75% of your grade so make sure you read all the textbook sections, take diligent notes, and go through his power points. Always read because when he calls on students if 3 people answer incorrectly there is a pop quiz. Challenging but learned a lot

Truly an awesome professor. He is certainly knows the material like no other. Its a 7 weeks course so you have to read, read, read, it is a must in order to pass. He has pop quizzes and grades for attendance/participation so it is important to be at class. Midterm and Final can be tricky if you do not study, take notes while reading. He curves well

Professor Irvine makes a pretty dry class worth going to. He is an extremely funny guy and his lectures are awesome. There is unfortunately a ton of reading, and he randomly calls on people to make sure everyone is keeping up. He makes pop quizzes if the class is not prepared on any given day. Exams are pretty tough but theres a pretty nice curve
