Comment:
Judith never lectured and relied on students to teach themselves and other students. The workload was immense and she added more work simply because our class was small and she did not want to lecture. Literally the worst.

She was a very detailed lecturer. Her powerpoints were filled with the exact info she wanted us to know and with nice photos for reference. She would also bring in books from her collection for us to take looks at. Tough grader, but really helped out with how we should be writing about the ancient world.

I've taken multiple classes with Judith, and each one has been informative and enjoyable. But I love archaeology. Anth. 170 was the hardest class because its archaeological theory. Also, a lot more is expected of you. But if you pay attention in lecture and do the readings, the class is more manageable.

This class had 2 papers that was worth 45% each, with attendance the last 10%. Judith was crystal clear about what was expected for each of the papers. Her lectures are not only interesting, but they are also online outlines along with a webcast of each, making the papers really easy.

Judith is really nice. Lectures could get a bit boring; overall the class was easy. Definitely an intro class. Lots of "busy work" but as long as you do it, you should definitely get an A or B. The final was super easy too. I definitely would recommend this class to people who just need the GE. It is the easiest lower div class for ANTH majors.

personable, but boring, disorganized; class is a medium difficulty level, not bad but not informative or enjoyable either.

Shes a good teacher but the subject matter is dry unless you enjoy learning the history of archaeology rather than its direct application today. Required 4 papers on uninteresting topics, and crazy amounts of busywork. Not for me. My section leader was insane. Worst part about the class.

Judith is really great. At times the lectures can be a little boring, but she keeps it interesting and she is very entertaining. BUT there is a lot of busy work in section that is a waste of time.

Could not stand lecture.. her voice is awful and she isn't very coherent. Notes are important but slides are available online. Lots of work. Lots, but VERY easy. 4 essays, no midterm, weekly online quizzes, multiple choice final.

Can't stand this woman. Knew a lot about pottery, but was impossible to listen to in class. Has too many moving parts that are mandatory and hard to follow. I'm an anthro major, but because of her I'll never take an arch class again. Who knew digging in the dirt would be so boring and time consuming.

Judith is very entertaining and nice. Going to class was fun because she always wore an outfit, spoke enthusiastically, used quirky mid-western expressions, etc. She isn't very good at keeping your attention during lecture, although this class is easy regardless of whether you do the reading or not. Very good organizationally!

Judith is extremely knowledgeable about archaeology and ceramics specifically, but she is a very tedious lecturer! Her classes are hard to sit through because they're so boring, but if you love archaeology then you might like her. The accent drives me up the wall.

Very good teacher! Very smart and sweet. Lectures posted online, only a final, online quizzes, section, workbook and papers (4). She makes you do cool projects that are rewarding and it isn't a hard class. People shouldn't complain about her unless they actually WENT to class every time b/c she DOES care about her students and is a GOOD teacher!!

She knows what she's talking about, but she's super boring and annoying. I can't stand her voice and she thinks she is hillarious. The class wasn't too bad, luckily you can listen to lectures via podcast. Before taking this class I was interested in Native American archaeology, but she may have ruined it for me.

Awful awful. I don't mind her accent, but she always sounds out of breath, like she just ran up to campus. The lectures are a huge drag, she takes two hours to explain something that should take a half hour. A painful two hours.

Her lectures are hard to listen to. She sounds remarkably like Sarah Palin, only kind of rushed during lecture. Lectures are recorded online though, which is really convenient. But lecture content is way boring. Section is good, lots of busy work though.

Judith is good at teaching the material and is also a very nice lady. However, this class has a lot of busy work which can be grating. The material is pretty fascinating but Judith is fairly boring in lecture and if she was more enthusiastic, the class could have been better. I still liked her and it was a fairly easy class.
