Do not take! Lecutures are incredibly dry, quizzes can be difficult. Speakers are entertaining but mostly useless. TA's are not very helpful and neither is the prof.

She's insanely smart and knows what she's talking about but sometimes goes off on random tangents. Great teacher and really helpful and understanding about assignments and tests, etc

It's true that she's a dry lecturer, and her lectures notes are somewhat disjointed. But the assignments are not bad; the quizzes take a bit of work, but make friends and collaborate. She gives thorough exam study guides and offers extra credit for attending guest lectures in the Classics dept. If nothing else, the guest speakers are hilarious.

Comment:
I took IDH2931, and it was my easiest course that semester. All the quizzes and tests are take-home, except for part of the final, which is open-notes. Attendance is mandatory; otherwise there wouldn't be much reason to go to class, which is mainly comprised of scattered lectures and films. I didn't read the books or listen in class and got an A.

Comment:
Turner is really vague about her expectations. She only goes into detail about obscure stuff (that she has a photo of herself with). The take home quizes were nearly impossible-some of that information may only exist in her head. The TAs can't figure her out either - so don't bother asking them. She tries to be helpful, but just isn't.

Comment:
The class notes are disjointed and spotty, the lectures are vague and rarely relevant. The assignments are graded subjectively and the TA's cannot explain the grades they give. If you are interested in the subject, you will be tearing your hair, if you're uninterested you'll be comatose. Do NOT take this course.

Comment:
Dr. Turner is useless. The requirements for the class are increadibly unclear, when you follow her directions you get a bad grade. She expects a 3.5-4 page research paper with 5 sources and multiple citations. The lectures are irrelevent and boring. The T.As don't do anything other than add to distraction and give no explanation for bad grades.

What was I was thinking taking another class with her? Her lectures are rambling and usually 70-80% irrelevant rambling. The lecture notes are useless and she hardly follows them, then expects all exams (essays), etc to be from in-class "material." Missing classes drops your grade. Her TA's were surly and inconsistent graders. Would NOT recommend.

When I signed up for Magic and Witchcraft I thought it would be interesting. I was incredibly wrong. Dr. Turner is unbearably boring and her TA's grade assignments without leaving feedback or even marking essays. How does one mark constitute a 7/10 but two marks gives you an 8? Anyways, I would not recommend this class.

I read the lukewarm reviews for Dr. Turner and decided to take Honors Magic & Witchcraft anyway--big mistake. Due dates are often unclear, lectures are impossibly boring, and grading seems arbitrary. She's such a nice woman and incredibly helpful, and guest speakers were actually pretty cool, but otherwise I really don't recommend the class.

Dr. Turner's lecture style is quite dull. She can definitely put you to sleep. At the same token she is extremely helpful and friendly. She is definitely better one on one. Four quizzes, two test and one essay. Not very difficult as long as you read over the notes and handouts she gives you. Definitely drink a red bull before class!

I took her for honors Women in Antiquity and if I didn't need this class I would've dropped it a long time ago. She's boring, confusing, lectures ALWAYS go over like she doesn't know how to tell time or something, and she's a really tough grader. It's hard to tell if the material she lectures about is required or if she's just blabbing.

This class was just ridiculous. You think that magic and witchcraft would be interesting but with Dr. Turner it's worse than any math or science class. She's completely dull and not only and her lecture notes confusing, she expects you to write papers solely on that information. Dont' waste your time, take another Gen Ed that might actually do some

Dr. Turner is ok. Her lectures aren't worth much but she's interested in what she teaches. Her outlines for lectures are very confusing and don't provide much info. The quizzes are confusing and can take a lot of time. Tests are reasonable b/c they're in essay format. Very understanding teacher and seems to be lenient.

Absolutely horrible teacher. I was so excited to get into the honors magic and witchcraft class. She ruined it completely. Rather than overview the entire topic she focused on her speciality- classics. We spent a month on just the Medea play. Had to transliterate greek for no reason. Quizs were confusing and didn't even have time for final.

She very understanding and knows a lot, but it's hard to follow her. She tends to assume prior knowledge, so if you don't know the basic timeline it's difficult to follow. Quizzes are take-home, but very detail oriented. She also doesn't communicate clearly what she wants for the final research paper, so you may have to resubmit things a lot.

This teacher is the nicest at UF. she is thoughtful, kind, and concerned for her students. The takehome quizzes are hard, and you'll be searching through the books to find answers. Some take 8 hours or more to complete. The tests are essay format, so it's easy to know a little about everything and pass. She'll give extension if you need one.

Overall, not a bad class. She's not the best lecturer, but is very enthusiastic about the subject matter, and tries to make it interesting. Quizzes aren't worth much... just essay exams which aren't bad. Give her a chance... go to class, try to pay attention, and maybe skim some of the readings, and you'll learn more than you'd think...

One of the worst teachers ever. She made the subject soooooo boring. There were 4 Take home quizzes, a midterm, a final and a paper. There were supposed to be 2 papers but she canceled one of them. She rambled off on non-subject matters and made it very difficult to pay attention. She made me want to never go to class, but you have to sign the role
