Profe Urla was getting ready to retire and you could tell she was ready to be done. She cared about our class the most out of all her classes this semester (she said so), but it got frustrating with how unorganized she could be. Nice woman overall. Lots of papers to translate but they weren't really hard.

Julia was a pretty good prof but make sure you have a good understanding of Spanish before because she mostly gives lectures and assignments in Spanish. There are 3 papers, a debate, a speaking presentation, and some random worksheets and thats it for points but she was a fair grader for all. I did well even though I'm not the best at speaking

If you want someone clear and concise, don't take this professor. Highly would not recommend. Grading is very sloppy without any explanations. I'm an A+ Spanish student, and still got a 3.5 in her class. Trust me folks, she's a good person, but a terrible professor.

Professor Urla is a great professor. However, I would recommend that you at least have taken some Spanish in the past, because she does often lecture heavily in Spanish, which can be tough for people who don't know some phrases. She does a lot to help you out though and all of the grammar and vocab on each quiz is covered expansively before.

She's a little scatter brained, but she's actually an ok professor. Her quizzes and exams are fair and she really does want you to do well. You need the book!

We didn't really do too much in class that would be on the test. Study the online workbook materials. Often got off track and didn't follow the syllabus. Ended up with a 3.0 but would have liked to have done better with all the work I put in. Study all previous exams for the final.

very nice, willing to help. sometimes a little confusing. since she is a native speaker, sometimes she assumes you know more than you do. tests are pretty easy, light work load.

She loves Spanish History, so that makes it more enjoyable. She does quizzes every week or two on one chapter and then and exam every 2-4 weeks on a second chapter, so half of each exam, you've already studied for. Homework is basically reading the chapter, questions sometimes, and studying for quizzes/exams. She makes the class fun and doable.

She is very understanding and nice. She is a native speaker and knows what she's talking about. Sometimes it's a bit hard to follow her in class, but overall she is a pretty good professor.

I really enjoyed her class. She's a nice professor - willing to help you and answer questions. I learned a lot of useful translation tips. There was a fair amount of out-of-class work, but it was suitable for the class. I recommend taking her!

Urla turned out to be a very nice, very accommodating professor. Most of the class consisted of group discussion in class and translation work outside of class. Very reasonable work load. I learned a lot of handy translation tips from her. She gives good feedback. Glad I took her for this class!

Very fun class. I like her teaching in this class way better than in 351. She grades very fairly, and is very helpful when asked. Make sure you are comfortable with talking in Spanish and listening to everything in Spanish. The only issue I had with this class was getting used to her Spanish "lisp"... the "th" for "s" and "z," but great class.

If you're a fan of history and can learn it from a textbook, and you can read Spanish, then this is for you. I, however, hate history, and took this class to go toward my major. It's rather difficult because she doesn't lecture much, and tests on specifics from the reading. She's helpful if you really need it, but I just didn't really seek help.

As an ESL teacher I hate to say that she does a pretty good job. She has her moments though of singling out a student for holding up the class, etc. or other things I thought were inappropriate. If you can get past her abruptness and occasional judgement, she's good.

Urla was very helpful and actually cared. In fact, she offers extra help before you ask for it. I am not used to that. She is reasonable with due dates. I don't get why someone would slam her for giving people breaks. Anyone that put time into studying in that class did well.

Let me start off by saying Professor Urla is the worst spanish professor I have ever had. Not only are her tests ridiculously hard and her lectures are more unorganized than a kindergarten classroom, she is extremely unfair. She picks out her favorites and has different grading standards for them. She will also extend due dates for them. AVOID!!!

I like Professor Urla as a person but I thought the class left something to be desired. Her lectures were extremely boring and she seemed really unorganized at times. But I would take her again so I guess she wasn't that bad
