It's her way or the highway by far. Not recommended at all and needs to use the "blue sheet" for everything. I bought the book and never used it but you really should use it or choose the other professor. You'll have 10 pop quizzes based on the text book readings, 2 group presentations, 1 individual presentation and a paper and 3 test.

She is a very tough grader and didn't seem fair with the speeches or homework. I really had to work for it. BUT she is kind, considerate and lets you make up classes missed actually, you HAVE too or you will fail the class.

The COIL project will break your back and shes rather unorganized. The final was a breeze and as long as you read the text and participate in class you will get an A. She also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Overall nice prof who likes seeing her students succeed and is easy to get a hold of.

She's a great teacher, although it seems like she was all over the place. I was in her COIL International Relation class and we were all cramped up with a tone of work at the end of the semester to catchup.

Comment:

She is strict but a nice lady. Taking Criminal Law with her now, learning a lot, she is a great teacher and helpful. I was going to miss my first test, I emailed her and she worked with me to take it before I left town. Lots of case studies both group and individual presentations. Go to class, do your work and you will be fine.

She has a reputation for being a strict teacher & she meets that to a T but I have learned a lot from her. Shes a great teacher. One downfall is that she thinks everyone learns the same way as she does so you need to speak up and tell her how you learn and what measures you take for passing her class. Lots of presentations and quizzes on the book.

Honestly one of the better professors at Broome. She is one of those teachers that is very knowledgeable and actually challenges you. One of the few people that got me ready for university level work and I'm glad that she did. Recommended.

the class was tough. she would give alot of pop quizzes but if you took notes you could use them for the quizzes. hard on the grading but fair. you really have to work hard in order to get a good grade. also very helpful to students who weren't understanding the material.

She is an overall good professor, however boring sometimes. She does let you bring a cheat sheet on the exam and the presentations count a lot towards the final grade. She does give a lot of quizzes. Just make sure you take good notes because she lets you use them on the quizzes too.

I took Effective Speaking with Professor McKenna. She is a strong, confident woman who is thrilled to see students overcome obstacles; she is not into the self-pity party. She is very encouraging. She is adamant about attendance and respect. It has been an honor being in her class.

I enjoyed Prof. McKenna's class! She was challenging but very fair, and prepares you to do difficult work. Is always willing to work with you, was a good class, probably NOT for anyone looking to slack off. However, if you put in the effort you will do well. I recommend her especially for people who are willing to put in effort and be challenged.

She is a great professor for effective speaking !! I hate public speaking and she made it so much easier for me ! She helps you feel much more comfortable in front of the class and has a lot of tactics to help you improve after each speech ! Definitely recommend her for this course !!

great teacher, hard class, would give out pop quizzes every so often, lots of reading, extremley helpful. grade is based on essay tests which are a pain, quizzes and two presentations. if you hate government then don't take this class.
