At first I was scared of this class b/c my first test I didnt do so well and the second test that Id study hard for and still didnt do well. My advice is to show up to class, study hard if you have questions PLEASE ASK! Mr. Campbell is very understanding!

Comment:

This was one of my worst experiences with a professor. Not only was his criteria not clear, his attitude and failure to help his student was even worst. He gives numerous pop quizzes over super specific dates & names that no one can remember after one brief lecture. He also fails to answer emails or any questions clearly in person. Avoid him!!

Comment:

Boring class. He just reads off his power points. Gives pop quizzes about dates and names (of people and places) rather than the importance of publications and their effects. Presents the material out of chronological order making it hard to keep track of everything. Please don't take this class. I wish I didn't, well at least not with him.

The class is interesting enough and Campbell leads an interesting lecture. There isn't a ton of reading but we watch a lot of documentaries out of class. The tests are pretty straightforward. Not the easiest class I've every taken but definitely not the hardest.

I am a Senior and this is the worst professor of my entire 4 years. The most disorganized and scatter brained. I swear he makes things up to make himself right and changes his answers to questions depending on the day. All you do is watch outdated videos and listen to HIS opinion on topics, not unbiased ones. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE

By far one of the worst professors I have taken at USC. All we did was sit through old powerpoints & watch outdated documentaries that do not relate anymore. His teaching style along with his entire class curriculum need to be revamped or retired. Please please avoid no matter how interesting the topic might sound.

Let me stop you before you make a terrible mistake. Awful class. I thought it'd be great because it's a cool topic but it was full of memorizing theories, watching documentaries that do not relate, and reaction papers you're only allowed to write if you're in class that day. Honestly, save yourself the trouble and DO NOT TAKE IT.

He is fun to listen to because of his journalism background, but never seems to have a clear understanding of what he is teaching. I recommend him because there is barely any homework and tests are easy.

Not a fan of him at all. Doesn't answer questions during test review. Tests are multiple choiceshort answerfill in the blank, but all comes from the readings and documentaries so make sure you do that. Doesn't give any partial credit or extra credit. A lot of reaction papers. Extremely boring class.

It seems like a lot of people dislike Professor Campbell. His class is not easy but you will learn a lot and he is a great professor. He was nothing but fair in the class I had and would do whatever to try to help a student. I would take him again. You will put in work to get a good grade but it is only fair.

This class was interesting. Sometimes, he put more thought into a subject more than he needed to. His assignments are simple and easy. If you need help, he wont mind to clarify things for you. Gives extra credit. Very lenient. Only two tests for the whole semester. I like him. He opened up my eyes to a lot of new things. I recommend him.

This guy is terrible.. I had to take him two semesters in a row. His lectures are boring (reading from slides), and his attempts to explain the material are very weak and extremely confusing. Dont take him unless you absolutely have no choice.

So... after grades came in the Professor that I disliked turned out to be the worst I've ever had. Didn't post grades all semester and then posted final grades on VIP without any consideration for his students. Also, he def. added ambiguous grades to pull scores down. Impossible to deal with and tolerate. DO NOT TAKE HIM

While it is easy to coast through this class grade wise, this man is impossible to listen to. He speaks so slowly and goes on and on throughout lecture. There is supposed to be a participation grade, but he offers no opportunity to speak! Terrible course. Exams aren't bad but Campbell makes the material so difficult to tolerate.

I try to give most profs the benefit of the doubt. He was teaching a class that hadn't been taught before, and I'm not sure he knew anything about it either. So it was always sort of strange, he couldn't help us that much. He seems nice enough, but he's kind of strange to talk to. If you have to take him, you could do a lot worse.
