There was a lot of reading. He stretched my thinking beyond the initial thoughts of the topics. He encourages students to have opinions, but you must be able to defend them. "Elaborate."

It took me some time to get used to the way he lectures, but once I was in step with him class became something to look forward to. He challenges the student to think outside his/her own comfort zone and he will offer assistance to all who ask for it.

challenging, authentic, and demanding....treats graduate students like they are in graduate school, not undergraduate+....worth every minute of your attention, if you dare to think about things and entertain ideas that may not jive with your pre-existing thoughts and attitudes...

I liked him...I really did. His teaching assistant screwed everything up -- as if she had no background in PoliSci whatsoever.

Fabulous professor. Seriously, the only way you can truly fail is to not show up for class and slack off. Dr. Spiezio challenges the students and if you don't like a challenge then drop out of school. He works his a$$ off to help students and you know, it's not his fault if you don't ask for help. He cares about your success as long as you care.

I think he was a fabulous teacher, a great writer, and one of the most intelligent professors CC has to offer. He was my advisor and I LOVE talking to him. As an alum, I can safely say he made my academic career great. He rocks!!

Although he claims to have no agenda his politial views are apparent and effect the way he grades students. Spezio appears to dislike students and treats graduate students like they are beneath him. Would never take another class with him.

Was one of my best Profess at VPI in early 90's. Fantastic lecture ability and is one of the reasons I am (trying) to pursue graduate work. Always willing to help.

I believe Dr. Spiezio is actually brilliant, but if you are a non-conformist at heart, you will definitely have a rough road in his classes! But for most students, I believe he would be great! A lot of writing, the person who said he didn't was lying! Yet, the writing aspect is extremely hard. Do not take the liberal approach when writing!

Great professor and public speaker. He taught this course very well. He was able to be objective about what he is teaching and understand where a person standing in a certain viewpoint believes and is coming from. Not many political science professors can be objective, especially when talking about a subject she/he disagrees with.

Not that thrilled with him... the class was ok, but he was too opinionated for my tastes - would have preferred someone more objective to teach the class. He seemed very dissmissive at times of opinions that did not agree with his own.

Great professor. He's honest about his opinions and open to others' opinions. He doesn't overload you with work, but the reading assignments are a little lengthy. Great guy.
