Very easy prof. Gives all the answers to the multiple choice and gives long answer questions ahead of time. If you show up to class every week you will get a bonus 10 marks. The downside is that I felt he treated certain students unfairly because they would express unpopular opinions. I found him to be quite rude and even would laugh at some remark

Okay Kwame is one of the few profs at uofa that actually wants his students to do well. if you go to every class you basically know all the questions that will be asked on exams. class is traditional as heck, but I stand by Kwame cause he was angelic and really helped a girl out. my advice: find a friend day 1 just in case you miss a class.

Comment:
This class was not difficult, but the material taught is VERY traditional and idealistic in a lot of aspects which is moderately frustrating. Kwame does tell you what topics will be on the multiple choice exams and which readings you should focus on. Over all: fair exams, good study guidance but the material fails to reflect todays family dynamics

Comment:
The course is about family, but it honestly felt like we were talking about family in the 1960's. Very little discussion about families other than traditional male/female couples. Lots of sexist stereotypes. Doesn't really respect students. Extremely inconsistent with information about the quizzes. I would not recommend him for this course at all.

Definitely a good professor, once you get used to his strong accent. He posts all his lecture slides and it is exactly what you need for the exams - 2 midterms and a final. Both have multiple choice and an essay (final has 2), but you can choose. The MC is okay but has a lot from the readings, which are usually statistics and demographics.

All of the tests are based off of the lectures. Kwame will clearly let you know to take note when something he goes over will be on the test. If you show up to class and write down what he says to write down you will get a good grade.

I made the mistake of taking his three and a half hour lecture, on a Saturday. Big mistake. He's very monotonous and boring, and I learned more teaching myself the material than listening to him talk. If you have no other options, take this course. But if you have other options, don't take this course.

Not a terrible class but it was definitely biased towards his liking of demographics. He marked super easy on the written portion of the exams as long as you recite the textbook/lecture. A huge amount of extra readings to do about demographics and specific studies. Said the final was cumulative but there was one question from old material.

No textbook, is not available outside of class. Avoid the 3 hour classes, they are rough. Doesn't let you go over the tests, but scrolls through it on the screen without talking or taking questions. So you can't LEARN from what you got wrong, unless you have photographic mem. He is straight up about not wanting everyone to pass. Doesn't teach.

Two midterms (m/c and essay) and one cumulative final. Adds to lecture slides and gives hints on exams during class so do not skip. Buy the textbook he references case studies in exams and tests on a fair amount of statistics.

Kwame is an amazing prof. He's clear, specific, and hilarious. Trust me, attend his class. Got a 72% on the first midterm, and because I never missed a class, my grade was changed to an 82%! Gives you the exact essay questions and the answers for tests. Just don't add "fluff", stick to the points and you'll get 100% every time!

GPA booster class if you need it. Make sure to go to class because he gives the answers out to all the questions on his exams! Easy marker for the written part of his exams, almost everyone got 100% on that part. Material is boring and sometimes he's hard to understand but I would take him again for a GPA booster class.

Kwame will tell you exactly what you need to do. You need to attend class, and answer questions the way he says. Exactly the way he says. Even if that includes "feminist theory is just conflict theory" or "Aboriginals aren't a minority in Canada." Dont bother arguing with him. He is funny, and it's an easy A, but he doesn't understand the material.

During the lectures he clearly mentions when an idea is going to be in the test. He has this idea that if you attend his lectures you deserve to do will, and if you don't you will lose a lot for something so simple. If you attend his classes and studied the notes you will be able to do really well. He is Super nice and helpful.

Though I had little interest in Sociology before this class, I got an A- and enjoyed the material. Kwame's Nigerian accent is a fascinating listen. I agree that he's a little narrow-focused, but ultimately the course goals are clear, and he engages in class discussion often. Sometimes hard to tell if his questions are hypothetical or posed, though.
