One of my favorite professors ever at UCD. He really wants students to understand vs. memorize. Not an easy class, but he makes it bearable. Dr. Morand is very helpful in lab and in office hours, also gives really great post-grad advice.

Great professor who really cares about his students! Be warned, this class is intense and time consuming, but you learn a ton and Dr. Morand is very helpful.

Not the most difficult professor but watch out, he is very tricky. He says he doesn't try to trick but his test questions don't tell you what he wants or is ambigious. There was a question hat asked you to simply put down the answer to a random homework question, which feels like a cheap way to pull a curve. Just try to ask a lot of questions.

Comment:
This was Morand's first time teaching BIS105 and it was pretty decent. But, I had to go to all the TA's office hours to truly understand the material. There's homework and exams every other week and the lowest one gets dropped. The curve was very very generous

He is everything a Professor should be: He actually wants his students to succeed. This is rare at UCD, I tell you. He knows this course inside and out because he was the one who rewrote the lab manual! Go to his office hours. He gave me more advice on postgrad opportunities than all pre-health advisors combined for all time.

Dr. Morand is a nice guy who covers everything you need to know in his lectures. Exams were nothing unexpected; well except for the final that was a bit of a shock. Lab is dependent on how nice your TAs are. There are daily lab quizzes that get easier as the quarter progresses. Overall good class.

Dr. Morand is one of the best instructors that I ever have at UCD! He is approachable, caring, and extremely helpful. I recommend taking this class over the special summer so you have more time to study for quizzes and do the lab reports, which were not too bad at all. Besides, you get a lot of help from him, TA, and tutors in lab.

The class was difficult, but only because you have no idea what will be on his exams. I studied his lecture notes every day and did all the practice problems only to find the exam was totally random. Straight A's in upper division (A+ in Ochem) until I hit Larry Morand's class. Doing average, which is curved to B-/B.

Dr. Morand is nice, but he is not receptive to questions, as you will soon notice. Students are left talking amongst themselves, with a bit of confusion. Dr. Morand's lectures are also very fast-paced (seems like he really doesn't want to talk course material).

Awesome professor!! Had a lot of fun in class, Morand really cares about his students. Has tons of interesting stories and really explains the concepts well and makes sure you understand them, too. Great sense of humor! Class is a LOT of work, but not too hard.

Morand and Dr lindsay make such a great team teaching this class. The class is hard but utilize office hours, they are so helpful. I think they are the best teachers I have had a davis and just go into the class willing to work

Everyone needs to open their eyes. LOOK its six freakin creds... 2x a 3 cred class! Larry is a cool, randomly funny guy always drumming around on random things in lab. He is a nice and good guy. The grading is sketchy, but just KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING IN LAB and HOW TO DO THE REPORTS and you will do well. Do NOT need to do well in BIS102. have fun

This lab course is 6 units so expect lots of work. It's not that bad if you do the lab reports and have an idea of what you are doing. Just try hard with lab reports and you'll end up around a B because the lab usually counts more than the lecture grade. Hard final and practicals but still managed a B because of lab I think.

This guy seriously blows! I study with a bunch of people and we were going over our quizzes and found that he doesn't use any kind of standard to grade. In multiple problems that were worth only one or two points three of us got marked off for completely different things...not possible and UNFAIR. Also, when he marks you off he doesn't write why.

Make sure you know ur bis102 before u take this class. But this teacher really sucks. His powerpoint lectures are ridiclous/useless. No book is assigned, so u have to research stuff online. Tests are hard. I didnt had time to finish them. He also have speech problem, so u might have hard time following him.

He used to teach bis104 in the old days. Someone told me that he taught bis101 before. His lectures are boring eventhough he tries to make them fun. I wish he wrote stuff on the board. I tried to podcast his lectures and lab, but it didnt help at all.

Dr. Morand is a wonderful instructor! He truly cares for his students and is passionate about the material he is teaching. Although lectures may not be extremely organized he delivers the material that he wants students to grasp and is extremely helpful in lab. He will guide you in lab but be prepared to work and think on your own!

Dr. Morand is an awesome lab instructor! The lab was way less work than MIC 102L. Lab reports were simple and easy, no prelabs, we usually got out early, and he helped us learn the material and made lab very enjoyable. A really terrific instructor, definitely take him if you have the chance!
