Terrible! His classes are small, because everyone signs up for the other professors. Then if you don't sign up in time, your stuck taking Turyn. His actions show that he doesn't care if you learn a thing, that's why so many people fail his class. Just take someone else and avoid a problem.

This class was a complete waste of time,money, and energy. The labs are useless. Calculus is inherently challenging, i asked for Calculus, not AP AP Honors Calculus. Overly hard and you leave the class feeling emptyhanded. Avoid this teacher at all costs.

Stay away from this teacher at all cost! His notes in class do not pertain to the HW at all. The labs are not helpful. He only has one way of explaining it (if he does explain it) & if you don't get it that way then it is your fault. If you ask for help on HW he give you little to none. About 1/2 of us failed his class and we showed up every day

He makes a lot of jokes and tries to keep class interesting. He grades bit harsh but he explains things better than some of the alternative professors. He also lets you drop your lowest score of everything so there is no pressure if you screw up one test.

Incredibly hard to get a good grade in his class. I understood calc II in HS, but can't seem to get an 'A' on his exams no matter what. He uses a lot of examples to teach, good for some kids not for others. For a guy who makes a lot of mistakes in his examples, he sure grades hard. Bottom line: decent teacher, horrible grader.

Difficult to get a good grade, I read every word of the textbook for the sections we covered. Helpful in office hours. Emphasized methodology. Very anal retentive. Take him if you like working really hard, and want to know the material inside and out. I learned a ton and I can still do the problems, I hope it comes in handy. VERY time consuming.

Puts things on test from uncovered chapter then explains it by saying you should have read ahead of the class. Explanations are crude and unintelligible to all but the most astute of students. You might say that means he knows his stuff. Well... maybe, but he sure can't teach it worth a damn.

Likes to show off knowledge. Homework does not prepare you for exams, writing a math book does. Picky grader as you must give his answer or you are wrong. Do not take, put off taking classes if he is the only available professor, as it will be a bigger pain than help. He can be very condescending.

Yuck. Aviod at all costs. He carries a stopwatch and literally lectures to the second class is supposed to let out. He is obsessive about notations and every jot and tittle. Easy and interesting are the antomyn of his class.

I got an A in his class after getting something like a 65 percent on the first test. If you've been a good math student in the past I don't see why you wouldn't like him. He seems to make a great effort to be an effective teacher.

These last two opinions are so bogus. Anyone who has had Turyn know's he is horrible. I put off taking any math classes that Turyn, Kaplan, or C.Huang, teach. If you see a bunch of openings for these classes it's because they suck. Math dept at Wright State is the worse in the nation.

I think he is quite a good professor. Not the best one around, for sure, but so much better than others. he tries to make learing diff eqs quite intersting. Just make sure to do ALL the homework assignments and you won't have any problems.

I don't know what some of these people are complaining about. I saw him teaching MTH233 last quarter and made sure to take him because I had already had him. Sure he's unclear at times, but so is the whole Math Department. By the way, I got an A in both classes.
