Comment:

Belfore designs the course to break you. He will tell the class he does not expect anyone to finish the test or projects. High scores were around 75, averages around 50. Grades on a curve. Find a good group for the project! He is accessible for office hours and is very helpful, it's just a brutal course. Lectures aren't always informative.

Comment:

Gives assignments that are NOT appropriate for an intro level class. Term project was assigned and explained about half way into semester and was 3 semesters worth of work. Tests are almost impossible to complete on time and lectures are not interactive. Gives good feedback and willing to help outside of office hours. DON'T SKIP. Very intelligent

He seems to want to teach and seems to care... kinda, but he is so out of touch with reason. He made the class so much harder than it needed to be. He teaches a 300 level class at a 600 level. He expects you to know things that he does not teach nor is in any of his many many slides or the book. The book is great. READ IT! One of the worst teachers

Comment:

Almost done with this class and man has it been a challenge. Dr. Belfore expects a lot... a lot, but he is fair. I used to want to be a digital designer, now i dont know if I could. Keeping up with the homework, vhdl assignments, and project are the toughest part. Well, actually his tests are super tough too, but at least he curves them decently.

This is not an easy class , but he is really knowledgeable and knows his material. He listens and answers questions clearly. The homework is a good way to boost your grade up and he gives a sample test that is just like the actual test. His test run long though, so I'd say his tests are hard to finish, but he grades well. Also, very good English.

Weekly hwk, loads of material, intense project, but a class that teaches you a lot if youre willing to learn. Belfore is enthusiastic about programming and comp eng in general, but he also relates it to industry and the importance of good engineering. Be ready to learn , be ready to work, this class is beast

241 was pretty difficult but he knows his stuff. The best advice I can give is to make friends with the people around you, because they're your best resources. Swing by his office when something is less than clear. It's hard material but after enough repetition, it'll click and you'll wonder what was so hard about it.

This guy will put you to sleep. He's a programming nerd who doesn't teach very well. He's really smart and knows the material but just doesn't explain it well. Tests suck because half of the questions are just as you expect and the other half are impossible to solve because he never really explained how to do them .... frusterating

This guy doesn't know how to teach. All he does in class is go through the powerpoint lectures he prepared. Horrible teaching skill. I don't see the confidence in this guy while he is discusing the material. In fact , he always look kinda nervous.

Belfore sucks at lecture teaching. He does a better job in person, but not at his office because he finds it annoying when people bother him. Someone said it was easy? YES, the class, I thought, was easy, however, that does not automatically mean Belfore is a good teacher. He is NOT. He is one of those EGO profs, which I think is funny. Half-wit.

He doesn't have TA's for 486. So that doesn't make sense. For 486 he is responsive, helpful, and teaching me as best he can. He's never become angry. I'm very happy with the grade :) I tried 446 twice because I withdrew the first time. It is difficult material, and I changed my minor. I don't blame him though because I think he's trying his best.

The material is difficult, and he tries to convey it clearly as best he can. Look up each line of example code in the back of the text to see what it is doing. Understand what each register can hold - a sum, product, etc. Understand interrupts. This class is like a 6+ credit hour; it's not his fault
