His class was truly a highlight in my first semester of college! Great lectures that connect to real life. Super caring and always supports his students. DO NOT COME LATE. NO PHONE IN CLASS. 4 essays. A few 1-3 page responses. Will read one book and a few excerpts from another book. Workload is very doable and not hard at all. Your effort matters!

I had previously taken ENG3 & HATED it but I loved it. He related his lectures to real life and he was very interesting. I actually learned a lot in this class. It was a critical thinking class so he challenged us to think deeper. There wasnt too much work. He was always very clear on assignments & essays, answered any questions students had.

Not a good teacher. Super awkward guy which is distracting, treats his class like a bunch of high school kids to be honest. Definitely the worst teacher I've had at Fresno City College.

Professor Herrick was wonderful! He links his lectures to his personal life experiences, which made the class so inspiring. He is probably the one most credible professors to have when taking English classes. Herrick is a real-life, published author, and deserves much respect. He is very particular about what he wants, but is also super cool.

Lee Herrick is by far the best English professor. If something is unclear he spends more time in class to discuss it. There will be 4 essays and a few reading assignments, there are no tests or pop quizzes. Always be on time because there is no PowerPoint to get the notes. This course was focussed on Social Justice and would highly recommend!

Mr. Herrick is an awesome genuine person. He doesnt take any crap so if youre the kind of person who has to have their phone on them all the time, dont take his class... phones are a big No, No! He is easy to get along with, has a sense of humor but respects your paid time and expects you to put forth the same respect and effort!

Mr. Herrick is an amazing English teacher! It was a Social Justice themed English 1A class, and there was a lot of writing. Mr Herrick helped make his students better writers and was accessable outside of class. I would take any class that Mr. Herrick taught.

Mr. Herrick is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and their well-being, and is inspirational and hilarious. He explains things very well and in detail, and is strict about late papers and class attendance. The class is a fair bit of work, but ultimately worth it in the writing practice you get.

Herrick is wise beyond his years. He not only likes to teach us about writing, he likes to talk about things going on in the world and prepares u for the real world. He also shares a lot of his experiences with us. So far I have an A. 5 essays no tests. Book isn't needed. U can find everything online. I will definitely be taking his English 3 class

Mr. Herrick is like a celebrity English professor. He is a very well known professor. He's a poet, he was the founder of Lit Hop, and I think he is the co-founder of the usea. Herrick had many many experienced. He is funny and very thoughtful. Easy A if you do the essays. Participation is require, because he gives lots of information in one day.

The class is not the hardest English class out there. It feels more like a communication or sociology class because you can discuss whatever you want in the beginning. You mostly just spend the time talking it can get annoying. He is impatient at times. Your writing will improve but not by much just be on time do the essays and you'll be fine.

If you want to write essays then come and take his class, If you forget to bring your book, essay or past work then don't show up because he will make you feel dumb for wasting your own time. If you are late just go home and try harder next time, but if you want to go in then be prepared to be in an awkward situation. Herrick is very smart

Lee is a very nice guy. He can also be funny sometimes. Books are a must have and talking while he is talking is not acceptable. It is a class where only one person talks while others listen. He tries to be patient but his patience is not the best. Overall, he knows his stuff, he is a great debater, and he can be very helpful.

Sure he may be strict on tardiness and stuff, but he wants his students to know that time is essential. You're in college, start acting like an adult. His class was probably the most entertaining English class I've ever taken here at City. You won't regret taking him.
