Comment:
Great guy and fun class but sometimes slightly disorganized. He covers a lot in class, but the course isn't very difficult overall because the only work is studying for the 4 tests that make up the grade. Offers tons of extra credit (random EC for showing up to lecture, and for being a subject in psych studies) solid class, 4.0 with low-ish effort

Comment:
The material is not difficult but since there is so much, you have to be really motivated to study all the terms/concepts. If you aren't very good at MC tests, beware, but on the bright side there is a reasonable enough time to not feel under pressure. The exams are based on lecture, and mainly the bold words of the textbook.

Interesting lectures & fun stories. You can get up to 0.3 in extra credit and I never bought the textbook. There is like 1 question every test that solely comes from reading the book. Other than that it's all in the powerpoints/review material posted online and you can just google. 4 tests make up final grade and it's memorization/some application

If you learn all the material from lecture then you will do well in the class. Extra credit from the research pool helps a lot and he also gives free bonus points on the tests.

Don't take this class unless you have to. The material and concepts aren't difficult at all, but you're only graded on 4 exams. They are all multiple-choice and just consist of random facts and statistics from lecture and the textbooks, which is difficult because there is so much material to cover. Boring lectures, he seems more confused than me.

Lee is one of my favorite professors, he's extremely invested in what he's teaching and makes lectures "fun." I wasn't bored and he's actually really great at lecturing. I didn't buy the textbook and didn't need to. Just study before the tests and you'll be fine. He makes really helpful study guides as well.

If you are looking for the intro psych class, take this one. I failed psych the first time because I had a bad professor, and once I retook it with Osterhout, I could grasp the information easier and he made it fun to come to lectures. Reading the textbook is strongly recommended, and coupled with his explanations in class, it's easy to ace exams.

Really smart guy and definitely wants students to understand and succeed. I never bought the textbook and got a 4.0, he will basically tell you everything to study on the test and his practice exams are really helpful and his lectures are super easy to follow. After the tests, he assesses how hard it was and almost always gave free points, so nice!

He is one of the best professors that I have ever had. His class is interesting and he is a really really really nice person. He cares more about what have we learned from the class rather than the our exam scores. He gave us lots of extra credit opportunities to help all of us to get good grades.

Definitely the best professor i have had so far at UW. He is such a nice guy! You can tell he really like what he is doing and for exams, he really wants you to do well, so he posts study guides that are ACTUALLY USEFUL if you take the time to go through the study guide. Be sure to do the extra credits cuz that will bump your grades up 0.3 GPA.

The best professor I have had thus far at UW. He loves what he does and you can tell. He is engaging, enthusiastic, and makes we want to come to class everyday. Tests are easy if you come to lecture and read the textbook. He is a wonderful teacher and I highly recommend taking his class.

Osterhout is a great teacher and explains everything really well, but his tests are hard & you have to go to class, take notes and read the textbook. I did actually learn a lot from this class and found it extremely interesting, you just have to be willing to put the time in.

It is not an easy class, but it is an valuable class. His tests have more details than other psych 101 classes. He will test some materials on the textbook even though he doesn't talk about in class. You need to read the textbook to get good scores. But overall, it is a great class!

I feel like almost everything in this class was either relatable or interesting. Since there are only audiocasts, I recommend going to class as much as possible or borrowing someone's notes. If you take good notes and read the book, it's an easy 4.0. Especially with the extra credit.

Osterhout is extremely intelligent, an engaging speaker, and explains class topics very clearly. Podcasts of his lecture are online so attendance isn't mandatory, however I always did better on tests when I did. Make sure to read the text, it's always tested. Great class, not the easiest in the GPA department, DO THE EXTRA CREDIT.

Lee is a nice guy with a passion for what he teaches. Lecture attendance as well as textbook reading is usually required to get the 4.0. Not the easiest class but you will learn a lot and enjoy lectures as Lee shows a fair amount of videos and gives many examples.

Osterhout is definitely the best professor I've ever had at UW. His notes are written in the correct format like an outline and they are easy to read and understand. He gives examples and gave someone $5 on the first day of class for participating in an example! The material is very easy to understand. Great teacher, great course.
