Professor Leigh seems like a lovely woman, but she is a bit old fashioned when it comes to writing styles. She does not care for any type of modern literature or current events. Take her course if you like an old fashioned England style English course. Also GOOD LUCK!... she did my boy dirty on his paper that was approved by the writing center.

Smith is a hard grader but she certainly does not aim to give failing grades to her students. what you learn in this class will help you write better papers in the future. Even if you get a bad grade on a paper, there are options to resubmit and if you show that you want to work for a better grade, she will help you get that. Great instructor.

Dr Smith is a very tough grader and usually goes by the book. I personally have always gotten high grades in English but she has given me several C+'s. I put in a lot of effort in and out of class. I have visited her in her office hours a couple of times. She is very nice and very caring but the only thing is that she is a very difficult grader.

This woman is the most amazing human being I have ever had the privilege of having as a professor. I cannot say enough good things about Leigh Smith. She makes you love her class, even if you walk in a skeptic. She makes you think, and if you do not feel adequate, she shows you otherwise! Above all, she makes you better!!! You will learn SO MUCH!!!

God help you if you ever disagree with her. She'll convince you otherwise on writing a paper topic you actually want because she doesn't think what you think. If you go ahead and do that topic anyways, well, let's just say I hope you're happy pulling C's and being dismissed in class each day.

Very funny, very helpful. Great at bringing characters to life for full comprehension. Truly passionate about her job! I was a B average student first term, towards the end of the class pulled an A. She isn't a stickler grader.. just prove that you care and that you grew as a writer and you will get an A. Would take again.

Loved Dr. Smith. A little on the weird side, but very helpful and will go far out of her way to accommodate and help you. She made me such a better writer and even wrote me a recommendation for a journalism job. Take this professor if you get the chance.

Miserable grader. This class revolves around your essays which you write and everyone in the class has gotten no higher than 80 as a grade (and that was only one person out of the class of 22 or so..) I was in honors english all throughout high school and constantly edit and re-edit my papers and my highest grade was a 73. Never again.
