Comment:

She pays attention (in a good way) to those who are real beginners so it really helps if you start from 0. Her tests are heavy but they're all from her lecture, the textbook and sometimes the exercise book, so be prepared! Attendance matters, not just for participation mark but also for taking notes that you might be tested on.

Comment:

I found that she didn't take this course seriously and did not seem to display empathy with students in terms of accommodations. During the strike, she would give us a vague breakdown of our grades when an assessed grade was requested. Her lectures also consisted of reading the textbook out loud.

Ce professeur parle souvent dans un fort mauvais anglais dans la classe alors que qu'un prof. de français devrait parler dans la langue enseignée. Très mauvais prof. désorganisé. Personne très désagréable et antipathique. Ces cours sont à éviter à tout prix.

High-pitched annoying voice, teaches directly from text so don't bother coming to class, does not know time management and rushes to new chapters so she can test us on all of them. Does not care about the students interest/involvement/understanding.

You must all have been rating some other Lelia Young because this one was not at all as described. Very sweet, very understanding towards extenuating circumstances. ALWAYS in a good mood. Not strict, not tricky. Class boring at times, but that's the worst of it!

These people must be talking about another prof by this name because she is nothing like that at all. Mme. Young is a kind and devoted prof who will do whatever it takes for you to do your best. She is encouraging and clearly loves what she does - give her a chance, you'll love her.

I took Intro to Linguistics (2nd year course) with her. This professor can't teach, picks favourites and not only screws you over on tests but also on the assignments. She is not helpful in anyway and more then half the time, she doesn't know what she is talking about. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR!

Need to "concentrate"... she does not concentrate her teaching. She has favorites, but not a lot in my class. You ask her just for a conformation she bites the head out of you. Hard marker, teach some things from the book.
