Write down all slides, if you miss some go to his office & get them because that is half of studyguide. The s-guide is worth 10 points on every exam, but the only work you need to do to get an A is the studyguide, because it forces you to learn it. This class is super easy if you do the study guide. Every day you take notes off a power point and you have 4 exams. If you do the study guide you get an extra 10 points on the test. You can also email the teacher and he will give u the answers to the study guide. Awesome teacher, but material can be pretty boring.

Make sure you come to class everyday because he does take attendance and is strict about dropping you if you don't show. Listen during the lecture, do the study guides for 10 POINTS ON THE TEST, and read the study guides and it will be a breeze.

Comment:

Downing is an amazing professor. He made class enjoyable. As long as you showed up for class and did the reading you were fine. He even gave you a study guide to fill out...and if you turned in the completed study guide the day of the exam, you got 10 points added to your exam!! He's great!!

A little boring as far as material goes but I did learn alot. Tests can be a little detailed sometimes and he does ask 3-4 questions about specific dates. Do the STUDY GUIDES for extra credit!!!

If you do the study guides, you get +10 points and more importantly you LEARN the material. He is a pretty funny guy and makes the course as interesting as anyone could. All I need is a 40 or something on the final exam to get an A now :)

Really good teacher. Be prepared to take a lot of notes, and do nothing but powerpoints. Pretty hard tests, but if you do the study guide you should be prepared, plus it gets you 10 pts on each one! I've made B's on each test and I made an A in the class!

DO THE STUDY GUIDE!! its long and frustrating (so start at least a week before the test) but you learn the material and get 10 pts on every test. trust me, you will fail if you dont do it. plus, the test comes straight from the study guide. prepare to write your hand off in class!

Dr. Downing is hands down the best CJ professor at North Georgia. His classes are long and you do a lot of writing, but it's totally worth it. He's a pretty funny guy and totally fair when grading tests. He gives you a study guide that's worth 10 extra points on the test. DO IT! Not only do you get 10 points, but you LEARN the info. Great guy!

Great professor. No textbook to purchase! ..however, that is because you end up writing your own textbook. There is a LOT of writing! His hard study guides are worth 10 points on the tests. Do them! The tests are hard, but he is fair. I liked him!

He can't help that the history of CJ is boring! "Boring" is subjective anyway. I think he tries to make it interesting, he is VERY funny there are A LOT of notes, but he reads through them slowly, and it's not difficult material. The tests are EASY if you STUDY the guide he provides. No text book to buy, but you basically write one! love him!

Excellent class! Dr. Downing is one of the NICEST PROFESSORS on campus and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. He is funny and extremely helpful. I wish he taught more classes. Beware, though... lazy people need not apply! You will have to be in class, take notes, and STUDY! (Imagine that!)

I have a different opinion of Dr. Downing. Yes, he knows his stuff but could the class be any more boring? Yeah, I got an A but I thought the class was going to be great but it wasn't. He's not the nicest guy around and my hand about fell off trying to take all of those notes!

I had Doc for CJ back in '87-'91. I can tell you that he really knows his CJ stuff, and was always willing to help out. It just takes a visit to his office if anyone runs into trouble with his classes. Also has great career path ideas!
