This class was okay, the lectures are kind of boring and tend to drag on. She does reading quizzes every other class and one homework assignment for the semester. The tests are fair compared to the material and as long as you attend the lectures you will do fine in the class.

Definitely a good idea to buy the textbook. Especially if you plan on skipping often. I did and still got a decent grade. She posts notes on blackboard. Use the quizzes and one homework assignment to boost your grade. Lectures are pretty boring but overall shes a fair professor.

Dr. Halpern is a wonderful teacher and a wonderful person. She asks that you read a chapter a week. As long as you are willing to do that, you will do great in the class.

Expects way too much -- treats 200 level students like they are in a grad level class. Unreasonable grading, and unhelpful feedback. Powerpoints are clear but she did not prepare us for other projects like papers and presentations, and then graded way too harshly. Should not teach undergrads.

Dr. Halpern is a wonderful teacher. She explains things with clarity and makes herself available for help. Tests are based on the book and the info in her outlines. She gives curves on every test if needed and drops your lowest grade (as long as you take all four of the exams, which are the only grades in the class). Also gives extra credit quizzes

If you like taking tests that need over 20 pages of typed outlines to memorize then be my guest. Her tests are ridiculously detailed, and the grade range is 30-90. Gives "a curve" of 4 points. Doesn't make any sense in class-talks in circles, and reads off of slides.

Very easy. It's pretty much memorization of definitions.

I really enjoyed this professor. She's very passionate about what she teachesm and sh'e just someone i enjoyed listening to. She's a mother of a young child herself so alot of what we learn in class she relates to her son which helps sometimes. Shes just a very nice and helpful professor, always looking to help and meet with you if needed.

This class is not an easy one, a lot of material. She is a good professor, it is just a lot of material to grasp. She ended up dropping our lowest test grade which helped me a lot, and I am thinking about a B+ or A- in the class now. I would take another class from her.

I had to drop this last semester. I showed up, took good notes, looked at the book, went to see her at least once, and I was getting D's. I worked harder for this class than I did for my others and it did not reflect one iota in my grades. So to the person who said this was too "demanding" - he/she is right on. Too much stuff is crammed in.

Just too demanding. The amount of info you need to know for the exams is off the charts. The exams are all multiple choice - 50 ques per test. I've been in "hard" classes before - and actually liked some of them - but this class is demanding to unreasonable level. Especially for being a 200 level. Some of my 300 level courses don't compare to this.

this class was awesome. she was usually a little late, but come on, kids walk in late every day! material was clear, tests were a little hard, but there was at LEAST an 8 point curve on every test. very interesting, one of the best at SUNY. take a class with her.

Professor Halpern gets really into what she teaches and you can tell its what she loves. Outlines are pretty general. No notes online. Should study from the book, but can still do well just based on class notes. She curves the exams. I never took notes and still managed to ace every test. wouldnt reccomend that though. Psych majors should take this

Extremely knowledgeable in subject, presented interesting info. Always had lots of energy! Have to attend class because she offers outlines but notes are NOT posted on WebCT or ERES! Tests were difficult, but she curved every exam, even the final. Didn't offer extra credit but offered option to retake 3rd exam. Had to study notes AND textbook!

Overall good prof. Very friendly + funny person, lectures are usually pretty interesting. Tests are kind of difficult but not impossible- take good notes (write FAST or bring a laptop!) and start studying a few days in advance. Tests are based a bit more on the notes than the reading.
