Comment:

Mike is super nice and really cool. He is very passionate about English, however the essays are extremely hard to right based on the short stories you read in class. Going to the class is not useful, because he only grades for attendance and you do pointless group discussions. He also grades too hard and he grades you wrong if you differ opinions.

Comment:

Mike is definitely one of my favorite teachers I've had at HCC. You definitely need to work at your speeches in this class, especially if you aren't a good speaker. Put in effort and you'll definitely pass! I appreciate that he doesn't use a textbook that isn't needed. Thanks Mike!

He's a great teacher, and if you're majoring in some form of art you'll probably enjoy his class. If you're just here because you need the elective, you might not have as good of a time. Also, keep track of the syllabus.

If you are scared of public speaking, you won't be by the end of his Public Speaking course. I learned a lot in his class, and he doesn't give any unnecessary work. He's very understanding and wants to help you get better. Plus, he lets you do your speeches on almost anything, so I got to learn a lot about what the other students cared about.

You can get an A if you actually attend class, participate, and put some effort into your projects. 3 take home tests: basically short answer/essay questions where you give personal examples of class material. 3 projects: interview, group problem solving, & individual 2-3 min presentation on any comm topic. Don't come late & don't be on your phone!

Mike Harsh made going to school fun. He is by far the funniest teacher I have ever had, and made it clear what was expected from us. I had him for speech, and he cares about the students and their speaking ability. If you try, you will do well and pass the class no problem.

Mike Harsh is a wonderful human being. That being said, don't screw around. If you're in a play of his, do the work. Know your lines before you're even supposed to. Don't miss rehearsal. If you have to, let him know ASAP. He can be really nasty when angry, but he always has a reason. One of the best professors at HCC.

Mike is a great teacher. If you show up late to class, he will call you out in front of everyone so don't do it. He makes class fun and is passionate about what he is teaching. I would recommend him but if your feelings are easily hurt, you might not want to.

Mike Harsh is so laid back, extremely funny, and understanding. I usually hate taking any class that involves any type of speeches, but he made it enjoyable. To get a good grade in this class, you need to participate. He pretty much has everyone participate in every class, but not in a stressful way. I definitely recommend taking his class.

Mike Harsh is a great teacher. I would recommended him to anyone for English or humanities. I had him both for English and humanities. He makes both subjects interesting! you get to learn about some interesting short stories , poems and plays ! He makes it fun and uses humor throughout each class ! He makes a 8:30 class enjoyable ! Great overall !

I've taken Harsh for two summer classes, SU 15. he's hilarious, but don't mistake his humor for weakness or easieness in his work. If you apply yourself, you'll make great grades. He's a good professor and keeps things very interesting.

He is one of the easiest, laid back teachers I've ever had. I was in his hybrid class once a week you had to post on Moodle a couple times of your opinions on different topics. He grades by letter grades and not actual percentages.

I've got to say he makes one of the most boring subjects of them all awesomely fun!!! XD He's fun, intelligent, witty, and blunt (brutally honest). Just don't come late to class, or you'll be the target of his jokes. :D Great professor. Makes english easy. I was never late to class, but I've seen. :)

I would recommend Mr. Harsh to ANYONE taking English. I mean seriously, he's witty, smart, and full of energy! He made an 8:30 AM class to a class you would WANT to be in. A tip for anyone entering his class, make sure you have your book with you everyday(the book is light weight). He also grades by letter grades -- not by percentages.

Amazing. His style of teaching is different and hard to grasp at first, but once you get it...you see the world in a whole new light. Mike is very witty and compassionate. Seriously, he's just an awesome person. You HAVE to take his classes. (Side not: Maybe try public speaking first. It would help with his style of teaching.)
