Accounting is a pain, but this was my last pre-req, and glad I had him! His class was really boring, but pay attention, and you will pass! 3 exams and online quizzes every chapter. Get the quizzes with A's, and it'll help your final grade. He offers bonus extra credit at the end of semester for attendance, and a nice curve too!! Good luck guys!

Has thick accent, but try to focus because he is a great professor. He knows everything about accounting!! He takes attendance a few times during the semester for extra credit at the end of the semester. Grading scale is laid back too. Quizzes are easy and he drops the lowest score at the end.

Dr. Guan is an amazing professor!! Dude is extremely passionate about accounting! He knows his stuff!! Seriously, ignore all the bad reviews from the salty brahs complaining about him being a bad professor, garans the majority of them skipped all the lectures. It's not Dr. Guans fault nobody attends lecture. Guess they're all accounting geniuses.

Graded by mostly by the 3 exams (300 points) and a little by the homework (30 points). Final is not cumulative. Lectures were painful to go to. Skip them and learn on your own. He gives really good study guides for the exams and he gives extra credit sometimes to those who attend class.

Grade is solely based on weekly quizzes and 3 exams total. Although the quizzes are tedious, you may use the "how to solve this" function to complete them. No need to purchase textbook or go to class (he posts the lecture slides online). Has a huge curve.

His lectures are boring. But then again, generally speaking, accounting is a boring subject to most people. If you pay attention in class and make an effort to learn on your own, you'll do fine. Guan is understanding and in my experience, will work with his students to create a more efficient class.

Most boring lectures of my life. Participation is random, but there is no need to be in class seeing as he posts all of his lectures online. Weekly online quizzes are tedious. He does give really awesome study guides though for his tests which help tremendously.

Not helpful at all! Went into his office hours for help & he made me feel dumb by laughing at my questions & saying things like "you really don't understand this?". He will play favorites over who he gives lenience too. A few classmates asked for extentions on online quizzes & only he said yes to some.

The class is funny and boring at once. But that is okay, since it seems more like a self study kind of thing and the class works with you to do that. You weekly get powerpoints that are given to you before lectures. They make for great study sheets, as well as the weekly quizzes and study guides. No homework, easy tests, and actual learning.

Guan is soooo funny! This class wasn't that hard at all! He gives out extra credit if you attend class on the days he checks attendance so just make friends with another section to find out when he does. You don't need to attend lectures because he is pretty boring. Just need to do online homework and study the guide he gives you--its identical.

His sense of humor is great! He takes attendance 7 times randomly throughout the semester and that counts as extra credit. If you score higher than your previous exam, you get extra credit for that too. Accounting is a pretty challenging subject so the class is pretty tough if you don't attend class or review the study guides.

His lectures are long and boring (it's accounting, what do you expect?). However, Dr. Guan is literally the genius of accounting. If you go in during his office hours, you'll walk out with all questions answered. He's one of the nicest professors I've ever had. If you think accounting professors have no sense of humor, he'll prove you wrong!

Professor Guan is a nice guy, and has a strange sense of humor that I find funny, but really tries to explain the concepts as best he can. Accounting is just a dry subject to really get into. I literally sleep through all the classes. Takes attendance randomly throughout the semester.

Guan is a super nice guy. He takes attendance 7 times randomly throughout the semester. His curve is awesome. 83% = A- (for my class at least.) His classes are fairly boring, but everything on his study guides and exams can be found the textbook. Don't even need to listen in class to get a decent grade.

Prof. Guan is a nice guy. That being said he is probably one of the worst professors I've had at UHM. Lectures were boring and concepts taken directly out of the book. I would recommend just going over the chapters yourself, doing the homework problems and then doing the practice test and going over lecture before tests. Attendance isn't mandatory

took attendance at random due to people not showing up to lecture. study the practice exams and you should be fine.if you dont get an A with guan for 202, you probably shouldnt be majoring in accounting.wished he would upload all the ppts and hws at once rather than every class.overall decent instructor for a not so interesting subject.

He is very nice and cool! There is no textbook, but a packet you have to buy for a huge project. Tests are difficult, all fill in the blank/short answer--tons of memorization. But even if you don't know the answer write SOMETHING down and there's a good chance you will get partial credit (advice he gave us after the first midterm).
