I took the honors section and it was my favorite class I've ever taken. Her lectures are really interesting and often funny but she does tend to fly through the slides. Her exams are usually easy and there are SO many bonus point opportities (40 bonus points and 412 class points). Just do NOT pull out your phone or you will literally get kicked out

Dr. Spurlock is great at what she does, very accessible out of class, posts notes online, and shows movies in-between units (with extra-credit if you watch the movie). Quizzes every week, but they're quite easy and are to make sure you look at the book once in awhile. She makes evolution very interesting to study, even if you don't agree with it.

Dr. Spurlock is a humorous and genuine professor who enjoys her work and what she teaches. She sometimes rambles on topics but they can be funny, and knows how to make the subject material relatable. As a social science major I never considered "hard" sciences to be enjoyable but she has convinced me otherwise. Would take her again for sure!

Not many options when it comes to boosting your grade. If you do bad on 1 test your grade is demolished. Would never take again.

Dr. Spurlock is one of the best professors out there. The course requires you to put in work and study the slides, but she is a fair grader and always open to talk. Not going to her office hours is a missed opportunity as she is knowledgeable on the subject matter and always willing to go the extra mile for students that care.

Dr. Spurlock is very knowledgeable about anthropology and human evolution. Her lectures are always engaging and interesting, but her slides and organization isn't the best. If you miss class and have to just use the powerpoint, you'll get kinda confused. Overall, I think she's great and I don't mind going to her class, she always keeps me engaged

Her class was boring to a lot of other friends. But I liked her class and thought human evolution was an interesting topic. Look out for extra credit and if you aren't doing so great, that can boost you up to an A. She also curves your overall grade, but don't always count on it. Only take it if you're interested in human evolution.

Dr. Spurlock is one of the best professors I have ever had at Kent State. She is so incredibly smart and always makes her lectures interesting and involving. Most days I don't even realize that we've been in class for an hour and a half. She makes boring topics more interesting with her stories. Hard exams, but study and ask questions.

She is very funny and, for someone who hates science-based classes, this made the class bearable. Attendance isn't mandatory and the PowerPoints are online but it's best to go to the lectures because she talks a lot on each slide so you miss out on a lot.

Had her for Human Ev. I learned so much in the class- all relatively easily, and it could be fun (we watched movies like twice and she's funny). There were weekly quizzes that required some reading and that was the only time I needed the book. There were really helpful review sessions as well. Always offering cool/random opportunities. Fair grader.
