Has obvious favorites. Her class is a book club in which she expects the students to provide insights while she sits there. Marks super hard on essays and expects students to come up with brilliant theories with no instruction.

One of the worst profs I have ever had. If you don't have a "deep insight" into the readings than she won't respect you and your marks will reflect it. I felt like she thought she was too good for us and too good to be there. Avoid her!

This prof is one of the worst I have seen. Class is a book club and if you don't have any great insights into the novels she will mark hard with no real comments. Her advice is hypocritical,and even though you may improve,she grades on how much she likes you. I learned nothing in terms of the expectations required for this class,they were not taugh

You have to attend this class to get a good mark. She notices if you're not there (trust me!). She isn't the most polite and helpful lady. Maybe since she was pregnant I got to see her in some of her worst days.. either way she should have been more respectful. She has favorites, she isn't clear what her expectations are.. avoid her!

I enjoyed this class so much. Participation in discussion is a must. Attend every class or you will bomb the final exam (she tests you based on selections read out loud in class). I was never sure what she wanted from me as far as essays go, has extremely high expectations, yet very helpful comments/feedback. She made me a better writer & reader.

I thought she was an extremely tough marker. For how tough she marks, she does not make herself clear about her expectations. I even went to her for help and found she did not help at all! Hard work in her class does not pay off, as long as you have some 'deep insight' into the novels then you will do great. If not- don't bother trying!!

One of my favourite profs at the U of A thus far. The classes were very interesting and very discussion based. She encouraged students to bring in ideas to discuss and it was a little bit like a book club. She's a tough marker on the essays, but provides great feedback that is constructive and very helpful. I would take another class with her.

She was the best English Prof (good for an hour and twenty minute class because you will not fall asleep in it). Made it very interesting and the tests were very fair although she is a hard marker for the essays. But she's still a very fun and excellent prof.

She is a very hard marker, and gives a lot to read. She's very fair but doesn't give very many A's. Her class was probably my most interesting and at least she can keep you awake. Her midterm is just an essay, and the final is definetly a lot more work but is not as hard as it sounds.
