Comment:

He's a nice guy and can be funny sometimes, but that can't make up for the boring subject matter that comes with an appreciation class. He tells you exactly what will be on the exam, so studying the night before will usually get you an A. If you choose Art as one of your two appreciations, you'd do well to take Vann for it.

Comment:

He is a great teacher because he knows this is a required class and most people do not want to be there. He makes it interesting by showing lots of pictures and making the tests come straight from the book. As long as you show up to class and study for the exams an A is not a problem at attaining.

Very nice guy. Do not forge the roll sheet though. Couple students in our class tried and he got really feisty. Skim the book. Listen in class. He gives you guidelines for what's on the exam. Class is not too difficult. Tends to be a bit boring toward the end. Enjoyed looking at and critiquing the original art at the beginning.

He's a nice guy and a very talented artist. He lectures the whole time on art, history, etc. it's not a fun class at all. I love art and love to paint, but his art appreciation class is boring. He grades too hard on his tests and takes it too seriously. Be prepared to listen the whole time. Study the book!! Nothing he says in class matters.

The class is a mixture of random but fascinating art facts and random but fascinating stories from his early life. He remembers all the names even of the apathetic students in his art appreciation class. He talked to me the other day and I nearly fell over from happiness. Do not miss this class. It will change your view of art, the world, life.

Great Prof! Love him, especially in ceramics. And he is an amazing artist! How he teaches all of his classes, be chair of the art dept, pastor a church, and run an art gallery I don't know, but he does!

He comes across as very cynical and arrogant even if doesn't mean to. I thought that the chair of the art dept. would have been more challenging, but I was wrong. I didn't really learn anything new.
