He's not an easy teacher and he doesn't care about what you need or what kind of problems you have. There will be a lot of information to cover in short periods of time, and he bases your entire grade on your final, not your binder (which is annoying because why make the binder). Go to the SI tutor because even though it's mandatory, it helps.

I thought profe Camarena was an outstanding professor at first. I always did my homework, got a few bad grades on quizzes but nothing too bad, always was participating, even did a 100 point extra credit project but he still failed me bc I failed the final. Which means none of that work mattered. He even told me I had a B+ on the portfolio. Beware!

He is a good professor if you are really good at math, but if you need help with math. He is not a professor you may want to take. He gets out of topic really easy and if you ask questions about your past math class, he would make you look stupid in front of the class. I would not take a class with him.

Regret not dropping this course when I had the chance. I didnt learn anything still hate and dont understand math at all. Teaches for 20 min then talks about random things/issues its not a history or science class dude poster project, 5 quizzes, 3 midterms and final exam. All hw is on textbook. Save yourself

Dropped b4 I wasted my time. Spends an 1 hr out of 2.5 hr in class time talking about topics related to math instead of teaching the material. He mandates you spend 3/week at the math center getting help with stuff we should've learned in class. I signed up to learn, not figure it out myself & spend 4 days a week listening to his stories. Don't take him if you are not serious in math or being a hard worker in college!! You will fail for sure! I spent at least 80 hours a week doing homework because I was dumb to not get the solutions manual. It's needed and the SI is COMPLETELY needed! Aside from that, I actually enjoyed him. Very smart man, does care, gets off subject. Choose wisely

Really he is the worst! It's not fair students have to work so hard for a teacher that doesnt care. He is rude, threatens to drop students for every little thing. I became paranoid always checking my emails because he really does obsess over students with stuff like that. I had to teach myself.

LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS HE IS SO GOD AWFUL!! First of all, he does NOT, truly does not care about the students' well being or understanding of math. He might seem rude sometimes, but he is nicer than what he seems. He can teach fast so beware. 3 test and a final, quizzes, and a portfolio with the hw. He was good at explaining the material, most people would understand. He is a good professor even if he talks about more stuff. I would take again. Attend tutoring as much as possible, it will pay.

Before taking his class math was a nightmare for me, an impossible subject to understand. yes! I had math phobia!! Now because of Camarena MATH IS FUN for me .His class was a therapy for me.I wish I would take other math courses with him but my schedule doesn't work. Very intelligent and good prof. He really cares about his students. You will learn a lot in his class, not only about math, but also about life. Yes, he gets off the topic, but you will learn a lot if you are smart. This class is super easy to handle. Of course an easy A class. Attendant is not a must, but show up and pass with A.

I passed his class with an A and I'm the worst at math BUT YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR IT ! Yes, he gets off topic often but I liked that a lot. It was like a break. The topics he talks about are interesting. Very opinionated but a really smart, realistic, funny and good person. Trust me, he really cares about the students. Explained everything clearly.

honestly, i expected much more from this teacher and it sucked, didnt seem interested in teaching... off topic all the time. unprepaired asked for help and didnt ... :(
