Dr. Akinyela is great! I wish I had him for every class. Easy, gives good advice, laid-back, and he's involved. The only people who would give him a bad rating are the ones that aren't really smart enough to learn using their own devices. Dude is cool. Great teacher

This was the very worst class that I have ever had in my life. if you want to keep your GPA high do not take his class. No matter how hard you try he dose not care and he just gives you a random grade.

Stay Away from his class.Extremely unorganized, useless, unfair, and disrespectful to students. He was always late for the class(up to 30 min and sometimes he dosent even show up. HIs test questions and Grading system were totaly unclear.

He was ALL OVER the place and wasn't really organized. my grades were good but we only had 1 quiz (online) 2 retraction papers (1 movie 3 articles) and a final exam. 15 hours of community service is mandatory. No one ever showed up to class, but the tops were very interesting...

If you had a hard time in Dr. Akinyela's class, then perhaps you shouldn't have taken AAS 2010. It's an INTRO class & NOT hard. He's very helpful, expectations are straightforward, and he's easy to listen too. He's not too bad on the eyes either for an older man. Seriously, take him for an A/B+ class.

Easy A and you don't have to attend class everyday. A lot of class discussions. The group project at the end is only bad part about the class. Other than that, an easy A. 3 test. They're all online. Service learing project is time consuming, but its good to help out in the community! Great professor. Even better class.

IF you love your life, and want to keep HOPE, I suggest you DO NOT TAKE this professor. Yes his tests are online and easy but wait till you get in a group with a bunch or ugly girls who are out to sabbotage your grade. YOU HAVE TO DO A GROUP PROJECT IN THIS CLASS AND THE DETAILS ON THE PROJECT IS NOT CLEAR>he makes nOTHING IN THIS CLASS CLEAR!! NOO

My Favorite Class this semester! Dr. A is very cool and very laid-back. His lectures are very engaging and hard not to be apart of, even for a shy person. Readings are supposed to be mandatory, but I know of students that did not read and still did pretty well in the class. Service Learning. Group Project. A Little Reading. 3 take home tests.

incredible class! i hate studying and after finding out about black history i could not leave the library. i found my love and passion thanks to him. very approachable. simple/hard to fail tests and very fair. Thank you Dr Akinyela!

Great Teacher. Hilarious. Really breaks down the world and lets you really understand black history. Wants you to read from the book but you dont have to. He lectures but they are engaging. TRUST ME. First teacher I ever liked. lol HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!!!! Easy A. All 2 tests are take home exams. Impossible to fail.

Dr. A is a great teacher. All of his test and quizzes are open book. However that was the only time I opened my book. Takes attendence randomly, only took attendence twice the whole semester, but it counts towards your final grade. Highly reccomended for an Intro class to AAS. Learned A LOT!!!!
