He was my advisor back in the 1980s. He was amazing and brought a quirky Liberal vibe to a very right wing campus. As a military officer I have used things that he taught me many times over and always tried to look at a problem from a different perspective. Wish I could send my kids to have him as a teacher.

I just listened in class, granted history comes easy to me, never once went to his office for help. I did some extra credit stuff. I walked with an A so, listen to him blabber know what's important to hang on to and humor him with a chuckle every now and then if you feel like being nice. Spent maybe 1 hour before a test reviewing, not hard at all

I can NOT stress enough how awful this class is! GET OUT! It's a nightmare. He's a nice man...but too smart for his own good. He wrote the book. His letures are scattered, booring, and he's never on schedule. He loves for people to visit his office. Though, I honestly think he gave me a C, because I know I didn't earn that!

Some people have remarked that his lectures are scatter brained, and yes at times they are, but he is a very funny and interesting lecturer. He is very helpfull and fair in his grading, and if you turn in papers ahead of time he'll revise them for you. Great teacher, I'd take him again.

Dr. Gilbert is NOT a bad teacher. He is fascinating. You have to LISTEN to his lectures and not fall asleep. If you listen, and if you do the online work, and follow his study guide you won't do badly. I made high A's, and in the latter part of the semester I only did the multiple choice and T/F from the online work. You MUST listen in class!

I loved his class. By far the best teacher I have had. Sit close to the front and pay attention, DO the online work and study those questions for the test. Not a class for slackers but if you're interested in History you can't go wrong with Dr. Gilbert. The most interesting man I've ever met.

He really knows the material and wants the students to think, which is a nice change from all the other teachers I've had that just try to make you memorize dates and names.

what is it with NGCSU professors and being self-proclaimed geniuses. Why don't they try to teach the students instead of wanting everyone to know how big their brain is. Why do we even pay this school for our courses, why don't we just periodically visit people who think they are geniuses, we would get the same benefits. PLEASE JUST TEACH US!
