Comment:
Ok honestly, Marcey only has taught higher level Chemistry classes so I believe this is why she makes her class pretty signficantly harder than the regular classes. This is because she has nothing to rly base her class of off. Though I have to say she is v willing to help you and is SUCH an angel. I learned a whole lot honestly but it was hell.

If you are someone who cares more about your grade than your understanding of the content in the long run, this class might not be for you. Marcey is a god and is always willing to help and accommodate you to the best of her abilities she's very accessible. There was once when her daughter was sick yet she still made the time for me in her office.

Very much so agree with all the comments before regarding the difficulty of the exams. Other regular Orgo 1 Honors sections have a mixture of multiple choice and free response, but Marcey makes basically all of her test mutiple answer and I would say 90% free response.

Shes a nice person and very willing to help students learn. Lectures are clear and she is also good at explaining concepts. However, the exams are ridiculously difficult, moreso than the other Organic 1 professors.

Professor Waters is awesome. She's very caring and reasonable. Her problem sets and practice exams do a very good job of preparing you for the exams and letting you know what to expect. She only tests on what she goes over in class, and she's very clear about what she wants. Overall, she's probably the best chemistry professors I've had at UNC.

Best professor and favorite class I've had at UNC by far. Very approachable and knowledgeable. Tested only on what she is able to cover in class, which I view as essential in professorship. By nature the content can be difficult, but she does a great job of preparing students to perform well.

Comment:
Waters is a very efficient and coherent teacher. The class needs more structure, but it's still very dynamic: she lectures well, draws neat mechanisms, provides great feedback and is very approachable during office hours. We also talk about Chemistry news relevant to the course material. But beware, tests are tough and problem sets are tougher.

Comment:
This class was a little unorganized, but luckily there are no tests. However, the problem sets given are difficult. Some things are taken directly from lecture notes, but others are application and hard to figure out. She is a great lecturer and excited about organic chemistry, but the overall class structure could have been changed.

A great professor and her review sessions were very helpful. Organic is a tough class and there's no getting around that, but she is one of the best professors that you can find for the class.

With Marcey, definitely go to class. She posts some, BUT NOT ALL, of her lecture notes online. This was a little killer when I studied for the tests after not paying enough attention in class. She is also big on doing practice problems in organic, so I'd recommend doing those to get a good grade. Otherwise, she's a pretty good lecturer.

Dr. Waters gives clear lectures and tests very fairly. Do the practice problems, read the book, go to class. Do not hesitate to go to her office hours if there is something that is unclear -- she is quite approachable.

Awesome professor. Always available for help. Makes otherwise boring information somewhat enjoyable. Definetly take this class at least the professor's easy on the eyes.
