Shes very nice, but a somewhat difficult grader. Her classes never felt like she was lecturing us. It was more like a big discussion. Exams were fair and papers were generally open ended.

Smart but she expected way too much for an elective. Had more work than for classes for my major. Would be angry if people went on phone or looked like not paying attention, or if you left to go to the bathroom. No laptops or food. Gave barely any guidelines, readings long and cant understand, too much to study not even on test,. Not worth it

I am in her Domestic Violence class and I love it. She knows what she is talking about and is so kind and reasonable. She gives plenty of time to complete assignments and her office hours are very helpful.

Abraham knows what she's talking about, & is a very respected sociologist around the world. Her teaching is very theoretical and she expects students to keep up with her flow of thoughts. Tests are VERY difficult if you don't study, and you need the book for weekly journals. Don't take if you aren't really interested in the subject & will work hard

Took her Domestic Violence class in fall. She was extremely sweet and walked into class with a huge smile. Required students to read all journals and chapters but she basically broke down all the information in class and made everything super easy. Tests were straightforward, very easy, just memorize vocabulary. She is so kind wants you to do well.

I am currently taking her for Domestic Violence. Horrible. She does not use Powerpoints, nor does she seem to know how to explain certain topics to people who do not know. SHE READS STRAIGHT OFF HER PAPER. She does not answer questions directly, and often beats around the bush. She does a lot of babbling in my opinion. She's nice though.

Prof. is great. She's so sweet and funny. Only thing I did not enjoy was the workload. It wasn't that I couldn't handle it, I just wasn't expecting it and didn't do the best I should have. Make sure you're up for a lot of reading and writing. Overall good class though

This class requires a lot of reading. You have to write a journal entry every week and she checks them occasionally. If you take good notes in class and study you will do well on the tests, but you definitely need to go to class.

Comment:
This class is ridiculous. She acts like she is teaching a graduate course or something. She assigns way too much reading as well as papers. Her midterm is literally fill in and essays, so if you're not a great test taker, don't take her. I hate this class so much, I don't know why I took it and wish I switched out when I had the chance.

This class is an easy A if you take notes and do the reading. Not my favorite subject and needed the class for a requirement. Journal(notes on reading) counts as a grade at the end is a little annoying but the grade only helps you. Group project is easy. Lots of work but not a super difficult class if you put in the time

Class is easy if you take good notes. You don't need the textbook if you can get all class notes. Her tests come straight from them. Gives an extra credit paper option. Tests are fair and the class topic was not my favorite but she made it interesting. Would def take again.

I took Women & Development because of my interest in Women's Studies. This course is awful. Professor Abraham spends all of her time talking about theory after theory but never explains how they actually apply to women around the world. She is rude, boring, and insensitive. This has been the worst experience of my college career. Don't take her!

She is a really great professor. Cares for her students and wanted them to do well. She gives you a lot of opportunities to do well. The subject matter isn't the most interesting but she tries to get everyone engaged. Not the easiest class and she expects a lot but overall a great experience.

I really like sociology, but Women & Devt was so boring and confusing that I just couldn't stand it. She is way to theoretical with her approach, so most people were lost or just zoned out.

I was not or will never be interested in sociology, just took it as a distribution requirement. The class is A lot of work, but she is a fair grader and she's very passionate about her teaching. Overall a great teacher, and ended up doing really good in her class.

I'm also one of the few people interested in taking the class, but once I sat in the first day, Margaret Abraham killed it by being ineffectual and caustic. She didn't give a damn about whether the 45 students in the class learned. Rude, belligerent, and in need of an attitude adjustment. Do not take her class if you can avoid it. Save yourself!

Professor Abraham knows her stuff. She is not easy though, so only take this class if you are willing to do the work. A few short papers/homework assignments, midterm/final which isnt so easy, and a big group project/presentation at the end.

Dr. Abraham is a truly amazing professor. She is so nice and so helpful. She is very passionate about what she teaches and truly wants everyone to do well. Don't expect to slide by without doing work because there is certainly a lot, but I have learned so much and I would definitely take another class with her. Absolute best professor!
