She is a great professor to take for calc 2. All of her past exams are on her website and I worked through those before every test and did well on all of them. There is a lot of homework, but that's expected for a math course. She focuses on theory so if you like examples hope you get a good TA and SI. She's a very awkward human being lol

Comment:

Initially didn't like her teaching style, but as the class went on she really grew on me. Kinda scatterbrain with assigning tests but she's super caring and will give you a good grade if she can tell you get the material. Most people didn't do well but that was more bc the content (writing proofs WELL) and not her. Def gonna take her again for 554.

Comment:

Girardi is amazing. The class is hard, but that is because I had limited knowledge of proofs and methods. She goes through tons of examples and works hard to make sure the whole class understand the material. You have a good amount of homework, but it is necessary for understanding the material. She is always available to go over material. AWESOME.

Comment:

If you want to do well in Calc 2, Professor Girardi is definitely the way to go. She has all of her old exams online, but don't just memorize them - actually work through them and understand the answers, because on the exam she only includes a few of them. However, if you understand the homework and her past exams, you should do well.

She teaches all theory & barely provides examples. The homework problems are very difficult and a lot is assigned. The previous exams from all semesters are online but current exams are way harder than the previous exam problems so there isnt much preparation. I go to all SI, review sessions and she told me I was the best student but still have a C

MATH142: There are no extra credit opportunities, the exams are long and difficult. There are not many examples given in lecture, but she tries her hardest to explain concepts thoroughly. very kind and funny. Do the MyMathLab homework (there is a lot), and do well on the weekly quiz and you should pass the class.

I think she was one of the best professors I've ever had. Yes, she's eccentric and tacky, but she really does her best to help you understand Calculus. I would take her again, but Calculus II is probably one of the hardest courses in the department, so put the work in.

Worst math professor I've ever had at USC. She is rude and treats students with disrespect. She makes you seem stupid if you ask for help. Terrible woman, I don't see how anyone could like her.

Pros: She's eager to learn everyone's name and she does some really crazy things in class that will probably make you laugh. Cons: Lectures seem scattered and lack examples and she isn't the best at explaining concepts. Also note that she is very serious about attendance and showing up on time. Maple Labs are not used thankfully. MyMathLab Heavy.

She's the sweetest and kindest woman. If you have the chance take her without hesitation. She is very helpful and cares about all the students and loves learning names. She has a page with previous exams which will ensure your A's in your exams.

Tons of quizzes, but she drops the lowest 20%. She doesn't keep grades online, but all tests and homework are returned after grading so you can keep track on your own. Calc 2 is incredibly difficult, but I highly recommend taking Girardi. She has past years exams online which are great for studying off of.

ATTENDENCE: Attendance is mandatory and tardiness is unacceptable! She will become very upset if you are even a minute late. No cell phones; she will confiscate. LECTURE: Scattered. She speaks German and likes if you can, too! GRADING: Assigns homework regularly. Has EXTREMELY well made study sheets. Tests and quizzes are straight from these.

She is the worst professor that I have ever had. If you ask for help from her she will just tell you to look at solutions online. She doesn't help the students at all and has no idea how to lecture and help the students understand anything. If you even ask for help she laughs at you and makes you feel like you shouldn't be asking for help at all.

Comment:

Professor Girardi is the right amount of crazy and energetic to make calculus fun and interesting. This class is hard and you have to do the homework, but she explains everything very well and is fair with her quizzes and tests. I understood calculus better with her than I ever have before!

I love Professor Girardi! I believe she's one of the best in the math department and wish i could have her for more of my math classes. The class is difficult, but if you put in the time you can do well. She is so nice and always willing to help.

Comment:

Posts notes online, which you may think is cool, but it sucks. They're typed, and for lecture she just points and reads them, no real math is done. She got better at the end when we asked her to do board work. Don't expect to get out early, we were always 5min late, don't even try to leave early. Skips many steps when going over problems. MC Test
