DMBS110 is the basic database class. There are 2 databases each week. Bernie will demonstrate how to complete them. Always follow along. The 1st databases include detailed instructions & are worth 10pts. The 2nd databases DON'T include detailed instructions & are worth 20pts. If you need help, ask. She provides detailed feedback on everything.

Here is the name of the game. SQL is very hard to learn so have other people to go to for help. You will be dependent on Bernie for answers and explanation so you need to get to know her because without her you will get lost. She will make time for you! DMBS 130 allowed me to do a complete field change. It meant everything to my new employer!

So far I've had no problems with her. She's very concise, although she teaches in a sort of round about way. She's answered questions without fail so far, and she seems to care about her student's success. She's decently strict about being on phones and talking, but aside from that, she's really cool. She teaches two of my classes. 10/10

THE WORST! Even I got a B in her class, but she still the worst teacher, don't take her class in the morning, because latterly will have a headache because of her loud voice, I hated every second I spent in her class, she is not clear at all, and I mostly learned from using the book.

She is one of the few Amazing professors that Ivy Tech has. She is helpful, polite and treats students like equals. If a student has questions, she reponds with kindness and respect. Ivy Tech requires more professors like her.

First of all she talks too much,of nothing of class. she was not helpful and she was snappy when you asked questions. I learned from the book not her. She is older so she is stuck in her ways. I would not recommended ANYONE TO HER!

Bernie is a good teacher, but she can drone on a bit long. I learned mostly from the book but when I had questions she did a good job of explaining them. She can be condescending at times but I think it's just her personality.

Finally! A teacher that uses their *own* examples when teaching! There is no evading Bernie's careful classroom environment of learning, as she instantly recognizes your comprehension [or lack of it] in the work she assigns. Accept no substitutions, and go the extra mile. It's worth it!

Best (database) computer instructor I've had. She knows if you're doing your best and marks/awards grades as such. Her lively attitude and conversational approach keeps the class entertained while her one-on-one instruction makes you think hard and realize how little you really know (in a good way). If you have the option, take her classes!
