He is a cool guy, shows up to class very late (which I don't really care). Doesn't really give helpful info when u ask for help. Since I do have background experience w/music, this class is way too slow for me. SUPER BORING BUT EASY A!! Just gonna have to get through it with this really boring class but he's cool!

Comment:

Well I took this class to appreciate music. Early on Professor Minasian told the class he doesn't usually teach this subject but the school told him to so now he's winging it. He has general knowledge of this subject so it's not terrible. It's just not interesting. He is somewhat monotone when he is lecturing. So.. just save yourselves.

Comment:

He knows a lot about music but almost expects the class to already know Music. He teaches the class the basics but moves pretty quick. He shows up to class late (usually shows up after the 15 minute mark). No midterm or final which is a plus! He gives only a handful of assignments the whole semester which are easy. Don't need to get a textbook!

Comment:

Proff. Minasian is a really nice guy. He only assigns 7 homework assignments the whole semester and there's no final. He's really well trained in music and knows what he's doing. If the class doesn't understand something, he'll go over it again and again until we do with no problem. He's there to listen to students and he's great.

Comment:

Minasian was a good professor all in all. Except he hardly put the powerpoints up online. Even if we asked, he would sometimes forget. So come to class everyday to get the notes for the upcoming tests. Extra credit is a life savor! I did probably 5-6 movies for EC and got an A while I did not so well on tests. So do the Extra Credit! It will help!

I love music, but the class was kind of boring. Nice polite teacher, but he's so used to having punks in his class that he won't really take interest in you. Grades on a sliding scale. Plays youtube vids for examples of music he talks about. Lectures come straight from the book so you don't need it. Just study the review slideshows for tests.

This class bores you to death. Sometimes you might end up falling asleep. We use the textbook quite a lot, not in class though. He's not even knowledgeable with the programs he introduces in class. He takes almost the entire class time figuring it out. Most of the people in class dropped out.

I came into this class with more than adequate knowledge of the subject, I just took it to satisfy prerequisites. More times than not I found myself coming out of class confused about what we went over. Some of the lectures are unclear and are repeated in the exact same way the next class. Take him if you are good at self teaching.

After only being in this class for not more than a month, the instruction that Mr. Minasian gives us is not very clear. He clearly needs to gather his notes and teach us properly. Even for someone like me who has some knowledge can get confused fast with his teachings. He is too fast paced, and assumes you know what he is talking about.

Ok...I would honestly say bad teaching skills. For me who has never had any clue about music, being in his class was hard to understand and confusing. He doesn't thoroughly explain his teachings to his students. Super disappointed bcuz i'm willing to learn...Only if he taught better...

A true musician and professor. Absolute command in subject matter. Testing is tough but fair. Lots of material you can't miss a day. Music history is very interesting and this is a great elective course. I highly recommend this professor.

Comment:

Great teacher, knows his stuff. Test are ok, he gives you a pre-test which makes it nice. He is always there to help before an exam. I don't care for music, but it was a good class overall. He goes over the information so much that I found that I didn't need to study too much. With his help and lectures you'll do fine.

Great teacher, he knows what he's talking about and goes over a lot of material. He even knows his music history! The class's difficulty depends on your experience with music. If you have a background with band, orchestra, piano, etc. you'll probably have an easier time understanding everything. If not, then just take notes and ask questions, he goes over pretty much anything you ask.
