Never again will I take this teacher! She is very passion about what she teaches but grades harshly and does not collect work when it is due. This past week I have stayed up until 12 or 1:30 in the morning doing the work she asks. She goes over the class time and doesn't even talk about the material we need for our assignments half the time.

Worst instructor I've ever had! Worst class I've ever taken! One of the worst experiences in my life! This instructor is NOT awesome, unless you like getting bad grades. You've been warned.

I don't want to say she is an easy 'A', but as long as you turn in something even if it is not up to par just turn it in. She allows revisions. She is light on grading, and talks A TON, but just stay awake and be ready to write down notes quickly because she tells you "write this down", but it is at random. She hands out stuff at the VERY end.

Comment:

She's great. Talks a lot but if she gets behind in the syllabus plan (and she will) she doesn't make you learn it on your own. She tends to over explain, but that makes it easier to take notes. She drills really boring concepts and is a stickler for rules in writing, but your writing will for sure improve and that benefits your later classes.

Comment:

Mary Anne cares about her students' success. She is approachable and will help when asked questions. However, the syllabus was confusing and she made things even more confusing. The order of lessons was ordered poorly in relation to the assignments. I did learn & received As on all assignments but I worked HARD & put in TONS of hours.

I took her duel credit class of 1101.305. She repeats herself and is hardly even giving lectures worth taking notes. A lot of your class time is spent covering things you've talked about in previous classes. Her paper expectations are ludicrous and impossible to fulfill. My father passed away during the course and she refused to work with me.

Mary Anne's class was very confusing for me and many others. She speaks slowly and was often dull to me personally, though she is passionate about what she does. The grading criteria is unclear and unstable but if you show up and review what she tells you you should do fine. The tests made no sense, one question on the final was worth 25 points.

Ms. Lightfoot is the best English professor I've ever had in my English major career. She is very helpful and kind. The class isn't easy, but she makes it worth it.

She works hard and expects the same from students. Mary Anne may be tough, but she provides VERY clear guidelines on what she expects, and she is always willing to answer questions during or after class. Class is mostly discussion. I took AP in high school and skipped 1101, and I didn't think the class was too hard.

MaryAnne sweeted me on the first day of class, she sat down and she said, "let me warn you that I am the grammar nazi of westside, I take off 3.5 points per grammar error so don't make them." Fair warning. Tough teacher, but fair. She's passionate about literature and was always happy to continue the discussion after class. Easy to talk to!

Mary Anne is nearly impossible to please, she is very strict, unclear with her expectations, and cranky. I spent more time working in this class than I did in CHEM 1710 and MATH 1315 put together. Her research paper prompts are ludicrous and almost impossible to fulfill. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone!

Very upsetting. Instructor not very helpful at all. Her obsession with details and strictness made me extremely nervous during the class. While I am usually an A student, her nit-picky methods and inability to explain exactly what I needed left me feeling lost in the class. I wouldn't recommend this instructor unless you want a headache.

Mary Anne Is a rough teacher, if you want to be lazy (and dont most of us??) Dont take her. However her class is very interesting and she is a nice lady (Unless your lazy) I wouldnt say its an easy A but you can get an A you can revise most of your papers except the final paper and there's bonus questions on each test. (: over all good teacher..

Mary Anne was a terrific professor. Class attendance is a must. She gives out quite a bit of work and has high expectations. Given the chance I would take her again, she knows everything there is to know about english, and absoultely loves it!
