Comment:

I really enjoyed the challenge of being in her class. If youre serious about your education and care about expanding your knowledge then I highly recommend taking her class. Dr. Gauvain and her classes will reward those who are serious about their education. However, if youre looking for an easy ride, look elsewhere.

Comment:

The class was all about genetics and developmental psych, so I knew it was going to be tough going in. I did well in the class because I studied a lot and rocked the group project (choose your partners wisely). Her exams are tough, they are not multiple choice, and you actually have to understand what you have learned in order to pass.

Dr. Gauvain's class was so enjoyable. Lots of reading and writing but if you stay on top of it you will learn so much. If you are a serious student you most definitely want to take at least one class with her as your instructor. If you half ass most of your classes you should avoid this professor. She does a good job of weeding out slackers.

Dr. Gauvain is a good teacher who passionate about the material but her tests are incredibly hard and sometimes the questions are ambiguous but overall she is pretty good just be prepared to study really hard.

dr. gauvain is extremely intelligent and kind. most students do not take advantage of her knowledge and desire to help students. she expects a lot from students, but she is willing to help her students out along the way. i would definitely take another class with her.

So, I never went to class because the lectures bored me to tears. I didn't even buy the book. Go to discussion and the occasional lecture. Ladies, you pretty much know everything anyway. I don't think she teaches Women's Psych anymore, though. But, I passed with a C. Not to bad considering my attendance and lack of a text book.

Very nice lady. The class was easy write down everything on the powerpoint and what she says as a supplement to it. The study guide was also very detailed. Not as bad as everyone makes her out to be, seems like she is more friendly. Easy to get an A or B .

She is incredibly rude and doesnt listen to anyone's opinion. She yells at people who don't do anything wrong. She can't seem to get people to participate because her lectures are so boring. You would think Psychology of Superstition would be an interesting class, I thought so but it was a complete waste of time.

People complain way too much about her. She's really a nice person as long as you don't disrupt class. She only told someone to be quiet once so far. I've also had her for Women psych and she's not as biased as people say. She even stated in lecture 1 that it's not just about blaming men.

pshych49 is not like wat it sounds like ... basically talks bout how women r treated as an inferior and then it goes on and proves it wit stats ... the teacher doesnt really like 2 help the students either ... no preparation or extra study session for final and midterm from her

This class, Psychology of Women, is not a class for males, or that is what it seemed like. Every lecture it seemed as if she was just preaching about how women live harder lives than men. And everything in her lectures are in the book. You don't even have to read. Just show up and listen. That's all

She is a heartless witch to say the least. DROPPED me from the course right before a midterm with no warning! VERY unprofessional and not impressed. Not to mention VERY BORING and over demanding for an undergrad class... Worst experience at UCR, ever! BEWARE!!!!!
