She is the best professor ive had in at hcc! Shes hilarious, knows what shes talking about, and will help you with any question you have! She also has the cutest style, and always looks so happy to be in class! I would definitely take her again, and i still see her around and say hi!

Extremely helpful and has a passion not only about the field, but about helping students succeed. She takes time to FULLY explain if anyone has a question. No temper, as mentioned in other comments, she just takes control of the class so that she can continue teaching. A+ to Laurie!

Comment:

Best teacher around!!She's always enthusiastic about teaching. Her videos are easy to follow just like being in class. She's highly respected in industry appearing at conferences all over the world and even wrote a piece in the textbook that we and all optometry students use. Pretty cool. Lucky to have her as teacher is understatement.

She has a very in depth understanding of optics. She is great at explaining course material and she never sneaks in surprises in her exam. Only complaint would be the lack of a rigid review for exams. People who talk about her temper are referring to times where she gets upset over people being rude and disruptive in class

Her temper is very quick, she doesn't like to repeat herself, if you ask her a question that doesn't pertain to her class she flips out and she thinks very highly of herself. She is very rude. When she is in a good mood its awesome but her mood is quick to change.

Ms. Pierce is the greatest teacher I've ever had! She cares about her students so much and it shows. She has coined herself as the "optical mommy" because she loves her students. She is also very funny and a joy to be around. She is an expert in her field and a wonderful teacher!! She really helped me out.

I've heard that she is very knowledgable but it's hard to say because she thinks quite highly of herself. She's not very well organized, skips around alot & injects info that we don't need to know yet. Has a very quick temper & isn't afraid to show it. Seems to have a chip on her shoulder. But if you need to take the class she's your only choice
