I had her for two times already. She takes a long time to hand back grades, but besides that I cannot complain. People say that there is a lot of reading and papers, but that is what a history major does. All high level history courses will have at least a 10 page final paper, if not up to 25 pages. She is a very kind person who does care about you

Very nice lady, she tries to be funny to get reactions (doesn't really work but she tries). She honestly cares about your opinions and is interested in what you think. The only reason I wouldn't take her again is because she is not a reliable grader due to health reasons. Feel bad for her, but our class has an "X" on our transcript indefinitely.

The thing about Stolee is, she's extremely intelligent and she cares, but she will just never give you any grades back. Her word count for take home exam questions is only 500 words for a 1400 word explanation. You get about 50 extra credit opportunities that add up to about 5 points on your overall GPA. Would take again, if I received grades back

I will always defend Dr. Stolee. Yeah, she can be challenging, but you can't take Humn and not be expected to THINK. She offers to help you map out your papers and read your first drafts. Tests are pretty straightforward (easier than the tests I took in Humn 1), and usually revolve around lecture material. She also offers a lot of extra credit.

My one complaint about Dr. Stolee: the semester ends in 2 days and my class hasn't gotten back a single test or paper grade. I have no idea what my grade is, and that's definitely frustrating. But guys, she's amazing. She's a walking encyclopedia and and genuinely cares about her students. Don't let the bad reviews get to you!

Do not take Humn II with Stolee unless you absolutely have to. Her essay topics are extremely frustrating and her grading is ridiculous. Her lectures are boring and unhelpful when it comes to actually understanding the readings.

Stolee is an awesome professor. She gets a bad rep because she's challenging. At times she takes awhile getting papers back but when she does, you can tell she put effort looking through them and provides good feedback. Lots of extra credit opportunities in her class. Def recommend

Terrible choice as a humn professor. She will seem nice in the beginning, and then you will get your grade back on the first test. I wrote a 100 percent correct answer to every question and barely got an 80. She claims bonus points go directly onto your grade but doesn't tell you if you have a lot she only adds 15% of the points. 14 points become 2

If you are an English major DO NOT take HUMN with her. You will be constantly frustrated with her overly generic lectures and essays (which have ridiculously short word count limits). Furthermore, her comments are basically useless. Her lectures come directly from Sparknotes. Avoid if you want any type of satisfactory HUMN experience.

I took hum with her only because I didn't get a spot in any others. This woman is terrible. Her promises are meaningless, you will not get your tests or essays back until a week or two after she promises them to you. Tests are quotes from the books you read plus an essay question. She grades these essays and all her essays very unfairly. Stay away

Her lectures are heavily based on the reading, so if you don't do it you're kind of lost. She has a habit of going off topic wayyyy too often, so it's hard to stay focused. I skipped class a lot just because I couldn't pay attention anyway. And basically your entire grade is based off the midterm, final, and that 10-12 page research paper.

The thing that bugged me the most about Stolee was that she always went off on tangents during class. Its almost like she knows too much about Russia. I could never find a good way to organize the notes I took in class and so I always felt overwhelmed. Oh, and that 10 page research paper isn't too much fun.

Hands down, one of the worst professors I've ever had. She has an extraordinary feminist bias, which she forces on the class at every opportunity. This philosophy permeates her teaching, which is both inappropriate and distracting in a history class. One of the worst professors I've have in my 3.5 years at this school.

Difficult professor. Unclear about what she wants. A novel a week plus many papers, including a 10 page research, a final paper and a final exam. She was nice, but doesn't care. Class was majority discussion which made it difficult to do well on the tests. If you can avoid taking her, do it. If not, not the end of the world, but you'll have to work

I liked her, makes the class interesting, grades essays kind of hard, but you can bring them to her ahead of time for her to read, which id say is a MUST do, really improved my grades on them. Also many opportunites to attend movies for bonus which helps alot too. Overall, if you show her you are dedicated, & work hard, you will probably do well.

She is really, really, really bad at just assuming you know minute details about history. Went to every class and got a 40 on the midterm because the questions were on random things she mentioned for a minute or two from one class( 2.5 hour/1 a week) Reading a novel a week is ridiculous on top of other work. Taking her is worse than a full time job

Dr. Stolee is very knowledgeable of Russian history, however she goes off on tangents frequently. It sometimes takes her a while to get to her main point. Her grading is extremely difficult, and she takes forever to give papers back. But she does give many options for extra credit, which helps. Okay teacher in the end, but not a must have.

Dr. Stolee is great. She understands that people taking Russian History, don't know the language. She spells things out and explains things that might be confusing. Her tests are well explained and she hands out copies from the previous year to see what they are like. She tells personal stories and talks to students at the same level. GREAT!!

horrible. classes aren't terrible but aren't fun either. really tough grader, decides what the grade is and then finds areas to subtract points. loves herself and he opinions a lot. will read over papers though and take home the essay portion of the test. i recommend not taking her, but if you have to definatly take your papers to her.
